Myk Murphy:
what interesting timing. with heruka's mention of antiques, and all... just 5 minutes ago, i got off the phone with my better half's grandfather. he's quite ill and quite eccentric, and he just called to say that he's shipping to her a watch he believes may be 150 years old. she's asleep, of course, but older folks are night owls, and not always subject to the tyranny of time zones. i enjoy chats with him, simply because he tells wildly fictional accounts of his own life.

Myk Murphy:
i was pleased to see the giants stumble in the NFC East, given the skins' aspirations for greatness. of course, our boys face the rams monday night, which could be a painful episode. well, i'm off to bed.

Robyn told the crowd the other night that Clinton called him at 3.30 am and asked him to take over the presidency for a while. Unfortunately, Robyn couldn't oblige because he has some gigs to do. Shame, eh?

(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 10:20:59 am)

Myk Murphy:
good morning to you both. is it still snowing up there, wax?
(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 10:25:08 am)

Myk Murphy:
i think of lydia every time i go to the music shop. my friend & bandmate works there, and he has a theremin in his section of the store. i can't resist it.
(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 10:31:02 am)

Chewing Wax:
Yes, it's still snowing. What we have here is a warm lake and some cold artic air sweeping over the lake directly into the Western New York area. We call it "Lake Effect Snow". They are expecting another eight to ten inches in the next 24 hours.

(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 10:36:54 am)

Chewing Wax:
Oh well. It was too big anyhow.
(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 10:37:07 am)

Myk Murphy:
yeah, we hear of your "lake effect snow," and are amazed by it. does the snow cover everyone's yards all winter?
(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 10:40:04 am)

Chewing Wax:

(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 10:40:04 am)

Chewing Wax:
Depends on the winter. Usually it melts to grass every seven to ten days, and then snows again. I only remember one year in my life where the snow stayed on the ground all winter.
(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 10:41:16 am)

Chewing Wax:
If it's a cold winter, the lake freezes and it stops snowing completely.
(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 10:42:18 am)

Chewing Wax:
Erie can freeze, because it's only an average of 50 feet deep, while Ontario never freezes because it's an average of 270 feet deep, so Rochester rairly sees the Sun from November through April, while Buffalo is sunny and pleasant most of the late winter.

Cushca:
What shall we talk about now?
(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 11:20:14 am)

Chewing Wax:
sport?
(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 11:21:18 am)

Myk Murphy:
who are you that is so wise in the ways of lake science?
(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 11:22:45 am)

Myk Murphy:
cushca loves sports. good call.
(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 11:23:48 am)

Cushca:

(Mon Nov 20, 2000 - 11:25:20 am)
