Froupie:
i'll have to try working with polaroid then, maybe do a little polaroid project.
(Tue Jun 22, 2004 - 4:47:12 pm)

Queenie:
nothing looks quite like a b&w print from an old polaroid. there's just this.... sort of noirish quality that I love.
(Tue Jun 22, 2004 - 4:48:29 pm)

Chewing Wax:
They still make that fun camera. I bought one like fifteen years ago. It was a wider format then the Land. I forget what it was called. I still have that camera somewhere.

I want to take pictures that make the world look like the 60's or 70's. You know that faded look, like the sky was a different color back then?
(Tue Jun 22, 2004 - 4:50:01 pm)

Queenie:
ken has some old family photos that look like old postcards you'd find in a hotel lobby in the seventies, sort of flat and the colors are slightly off like you're talking about, I'd give anything to have the camera that took them.
(Tue Jun 22, 2004 - 4:51:58 pm)

Chewing Wax:
I should dust that poor thing off and see how it's working. If it's working. If I can find it.
(Tue Jun 22, 2004 - 4:52:42 pm)

Queenie:
I took this with my old polaroid, now explain to me how modern polaroid technology is an improvement over this

often comes with a case and the flash unit and the whole deal, but make sure you find one that states that it's been tested and working, lest you end up with fifty nonfunctioning ones like me. the problem is with the battery, they don't make the batteries anymore so once they're dead, they're dead. I have two batteries I share between all the cameras.
(Tue Jun 22, 2004 - 4:59:23 pm)

Chewing Wax:

(Tue Jun 22, 2004 - 5:00:54 pm)

and it takes 669 b&w film or 3000, which you can get at pretty much any specialty camera shop, I like the 3000 speed, it's very sensitive to light.

and you can't use them indoors without the flash and like I said the bulbs are so hard to find -- really the best use is outdoors on overcast days.

I mean, they're really no good for a quick point-and-shoot-in-any-condition kind of thing, the circumstances have to be just right, perfect light and perfect distance from the subject and all of that, but man, they're just so rad.
