Froupie:
i think he looks great a bit older, he was so funny last night. plenty of smiths songs performed, the encore was "theres a light that never goes out"... best gig i've been to for years and years. buy that new album myk.

Froupie:
james maker was in the audience too.
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 3:31:42 am)

Detlef Sping:
I are literate?
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 1:58:06 pm)

Chewing Wax:
DO you be?
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 2:38:19 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i certainly will, froupie.

Queenie:
Oh I think he still looks great too. Just old.
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 3:36:09 pm)

Queenie:
And today I'm going to go see an aged, bloated Gordon Gano perform at a fair for $5. Rick says that the price of having heroes is having to watch your heroes die. I think that the price of having heroes is having to see them play fairs.
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 3:37:29 pm)

Chewing Wax:
Yep. Jethro Tull, Erie County Fair, August 12th, 2000.
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 4:52:02 pm)

Chewing Wax:
But the Erie County Fair is one of the biggest county fairs in the country. To be fair. I guess.

Blam, blam, your pointers, point your pointers,
Wattle with apples to granchy Mrs. Stores,
She'll be scrubbing bubbles on all fours.

Queenie:
I saw Joan Jett at the Delaware State Fair many, many years ago. Later that night my friend and I were attacked by a guy and we had to spend the evening trying to explain it to cops and security guards who didn't believe us. Good times.

Queenie:
But it doesn't seem we're going to make the Violent Femmes after all. Ken needs the car to go to a last-minute rush recording session. Meh.
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 5:25:44 pm)

Sleepy:
Bright Eyes? I know someone who knows about them. I'll ask.
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 6:46:34 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i think david bowie said it best:

"i... i will be king.... and you... you will be the hog-calling queen."
"we can be heroes... just for one county fair."

(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 6:48:00 pm)

Myk Murphy:
hi sleepy... how are you and london doing today?
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 6:49:11 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i once saw steppenwolf play a chili cookoff. that was amusing. just so we're clear on this, i came for the chili.
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 6:50:06 pm)

Queenie:
that's the best thing you've ever said. I'm stealing that right now.
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 6:58:15 pm)

Myk Murphy:
feel free to pilfer anything, but which comment, exactly, is it?
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:04:39 pm)

(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:13:20 pm)

Queenie:
I edited it slightly before adding it to my "stolen quotes" book", took out the little middle sentence:

i once saw steppenwolf play a chili cookoff. just so we're clear on this, i came for the chili.

(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:24:05 pm)

Myk Murphy:
glad i could help.
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:39:53 pm)

Chewing Wax:
How was the chili?
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:41:37 pm)

Chewing Wax:
My ride to the ball game is late. Should I wear a jacket?
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:41:54 pm)

Chewing Wax:
Low's in the upper 50's. Tricky.
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:42:26 pm)

Chewing Wax:
What the hell. I don't have to wear it right?
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:42:44 pm)

Chewing Wax:
Hey Myk. Did they do Magic Carpet Ride?
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:43:01 pm)

Chewing Wax:
I'm going to wait out front. Later.
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:43:16 pm)

Myk Murphy:
it's still pretty warm here. i don't think you'll need a jacket.

the chili was very good. the cookoffs in alexandria (right outside dc, next to arlington) are always good. a good mix of sweet and spicy chili options... gifted cooks, the lot of 'em.

that buffalo wing cookoff at bisons' ballpark i mentioned a couple days ago (that i saw it on food network channel) looks like a fun event. when is the next one?
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:45:38 pm)

Detlef Sping:
Don't forget your jacket.
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:46:00 pm)

Myk Murphy:
they probably played it twice. give it some thought... is "magic carpet ride" the worst song in classic rock's heavy rotation playlist?
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:46:53 pm)

Myk Murphy:
although it's obvious, i'll clarify that i meant "classic rock RADIO". we still have one classic rock station in the area. are they declining elsewhere?
(Sat Jun 12, 2004 - 7:52:58 pm)

Myk Murphy:
later... gotta go get frozen custard.
