Ohrwurm:
Hey, in the UK Steve is replaced by Kevin.

If he is more your taste!
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:02:46 pm)

Queenie:
I love Steve. If my server wasn't down I'd post a photo of me sitting with him.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:10:14 pm)

Ohrwurm:
Kevin doesn't do songs about Dustmites though. I remember you posting that photo months ago.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:12:06 pm)

Ohrwurm:
Of the mighty little man.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:13:13 pm)

Queenie:
I was just listening to that CD. Steve rules.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:17:45 pm)

Ohrwurm:
I know.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:22:27 pm)

Queenie:
my friend tells me that, since my anxiety problems prevent me from working with the public and make me fuck up and panic at every job interview I go on, that I should get certified nutty and get some of that sweet disability money.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:24:41 pm)

Queenie:
the drawback of course being certified nutty.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:25:00 pm)

Ohrwurm:
No, just focus on why the public fuck you off. I guess you got lost when you were really really young at a store or somewhere and felt completely alone.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:25:46 pm)

Ohrwurm:
Then, once you've sussed it out, pretend to go and be nutty and get the money too.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:28:12 pm)

Queenie:
the minutes crawl by
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:49:31 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i think the drawback is that you become yet another drain on the state of oregon and its residents, unless you're in washington state, which is another state altogether, i'm told. there used to be a stigma about that sort of thing. nowadays the stigma is that one has yet to discuss his or her shortcomings on national tv shows.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:52:29 pm)

Myk Murphy:
tell me about your drugs. don't they make a nice one that makes you all chill for job interviews, weddings, bar mitzvahs, state executions, etc.?
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:54:26 pm)

Queenie:
I remember having to go to a public utilities assistance office once and I was burning from the dirty shame of it all, and the lady just smiled and said, "this is why you pay taxes, sweetie. It's your money too". She was nice.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:54:44 pm)

Queenie:
I don't think I could ever be on those drugs. I saw how they fucked up my mom's head. I'd rather learn coping skills.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 5:55:31 pm)

Myk Murphy:
be very careful not to equate today's drugs with the ones given to loved ones a generation ago. while mental health is still an inexact science, it has improved dramatically. the drug can be more of a nudge than a push to keep someone on an even keel.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 6:08:34 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i hate to sound unsympathetic, as it isn't the case...

but if you're considering welfare cash due to mental duress caused by doing normal things like getting a job, you might not have effective "coping skills".
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 6:11:06 pm)

Froupie:
next doors little cat is in my house snooping around
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 6:16:48 pm)

Froupie:
i've had two bobra beers i'm too tired to chase him around
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 6:17:05 pm)

Froupie:
cobra beers
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 6:17:12 pm)

Froupie:
that band was LOUD
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 6:17:21 pm)

Queenie:
not welfare cash, sorry if I was unclear about that
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 6:27:08 pm)

Myk Murphy:
"sweet disability money" sounded like welfare money. the distinction is unclear to me.

cobra beer? sounds like it should be wrapped in brown paper and should be served in 40 ounce bottles. it's fun to have guest pets roaming the house. i'd let the neighbors' dogs in the house, but our cats would attack with extreme prejudice. it's a shame, as the dogs are all so sweet. one of them snuck into this house (before we lived here), wandered into the basement, and proceeded to nap the day away.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 8:29:16 pm)

Heruka:
it's all welfare these days. the system is so fucking easy to scam, it's unbelieveable.

there's the irony Queenie, if you're too poor to pay your bills and need handouts, then you really don't pay taxes. with the EIC and other programs, those on the bottom rungs of the economic ladder actually recieve more money in refund checks than they pay in.
as Myk stated, there's a growing class of peole out there who feel it's ok to take more out of the pot than they put in, and they have no shame about it. ugh, welcome to the nanny-state.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 10:58:41 pm)

Queenie:
Well, I've been paying taxes for many years. But I had no income this past year. It's all so depressing. But I think we've worked out a bank loan to get us through our present situation. I hope so.
(Mon May 24, 2004 - 11:45:30 pm)

Froupie:

you're not wrong myk...
(Tue May 25, 2004 - 3:44:00 am)

Froupie:
head hurty today.
(Tue May 25, 2004 - 3:45:48 am)

Queenie:
damn, rick was so cruel to me today, and for no goddamn reason. one of those few times in your life when you can honestly say that a confrontation was 100% the other guy going nutty for no reason. I guess there's a sort of self-righteous comfort to be had in that.
(Tue May 25, 2004 - 3:47:29 am)

Queenie:
I sent him an email telling him how he made me feel. I hope he takes it well. You can never tell with him. It's like walking in a mine field sometimes. I've no doubt he'd say the same thing about me though.
(Tue May 25, 2004 - 3:56:37 am)

Decoy:
For NO reason? Are you sure?
(Tue May 25, 2004 - 8:18:42 am)

Decoy:
Steve was replaced by Joe years agao, right? Or is that just US.
(Tue May 25, 2004 - 8:20:20 am)

Decoy:
Lazy or inept, who the hell is welfare for? There must be a job for everyone to their own special abilities. They have removed the stigme of being a taker. When commjnities supported their own it was obvious that you needed to get off your ass and do something. Now that the handouts come from a faceless gov, its easy just to sit back and let it come. You r neighbors don;t even know theya re supporting you to sit around all day.
(Tue May 25, 2004 - 8:23:30 am)

Decoy:
They can eat Cicadas. I hear they're nutritious as all get out.
