Queenie:
I refuse to associate every guy over there with that sort of behavior, just as I hope they refuse to associate me with england girl's behavior.
(Tue May 11, 2004 - 6:05:21 pm)
Queenie:
but I know I am alone in this. sadly.
(Tue May 11, 2004 - 6:05:37 pm)
Detlef Sping:
It's a stark difference Queenie.
(Tue May 11, 2004 - 7:03:31 pm)
Queenie:
I mean really... "remember 9/11, think of the children, remember the rape rooms" blah blah blah fucking BLAH I'm so sick of it, I'm so sick of another's countries atrocities being held up as the justification for amercan soldiers' atrocities. I mean, if you're going to go around all self-righteous about the way another country's leader is treating his people, you goddamn well better show those same people some fucking respect otherwise you look like an asshole, you make all of your own countrymen guilty by association, and you succeed only in continuing the endless cycle of stupidity and hatred. Our biggest mistake was in adopting the same kind of thinking that they have. Or maybe, if you trace it back far enough, they adopted it from us, who fucking knows. The point is, maybe those guys deserve what they got. Maybe they deserve even more. But to punish their torture and brutality with torture and brutality in the name of decency is fucking stupid. STUPID STUPID STUPID. It doesn't even make any fucking sense.
(Tue May 11, 2004 - 7:10:28 pm)
Queenie:
And anything they do to any of our soldiers could be justified the same way. "You tortured me!" "Oh yeah, well you tortured me!" "Well I only tortured you cause you tortured me!" If you were one of them, you'd be saying all this same stuff about America, the only difference is geography and birthright loyalty.
(Tue May 11, 2004 - 7:12:41 pm)
Queenie:
I'd like to apologize for my rant earlier. My blood sugar was low. Yeah, that's it..
(Tue May 11, 2004 - 10:03:41 pm)
Froupie:
i agree with you. its all a hideously stupid waste of lives and money.
(Wed May 12, 2004 - 3:28:28 am)
Decoy:
Read up on the subject. You'll be very disappointed.
(Wed May 12, 2004 - 6:37:32 am)
Myk Murphy:
good morning, outraged citizens. as the case is probed further, what's going to become clearer is that the torture, humiliation, and photos were part of "psychological ops" used to extract information. i don't know if this makes anyone feel better or worse about the soldiers, but the "humiliation/deprivation with rewards (like clothes!) when the prisoner is cooperative" approach is why this occurred. so, if you see just a few enlisted folks go down for this, you can be certain it was a cover-up for controversial policy decisions.
(Wed May 12, 2004 - 8:06:21 am)
Chewing Wax:
And we know how cover-ups never work. This is going to be great.
(Wed May 12, 2004 - 8:08:01 am)
Myk Murphy:
yeah, definitely file this one in the "going to be great" folder. amusingly, rumsfeld's wacky motorcade drove by me on pennsylvania ave on friday, about 11:45. i think i may have seen him... someone was squinting his eyes at me from the right window of an armored limo, but i can't be sure. i squinted back.
(Wed May 12, 2004 - 8:12:03 am)
Froupie:
good day all
(Wed May 12, 2004 - 8:35:58 am)
Myk Murphy:

(Wed May 12, 2004 - 8:52:48 am)
Myk Murphy:
i'm only slacking today because yesterday was a 16 hour workday. evil.
(Wed May 12, 2004 - 8:56:24 am)
Myk Murphy:
and, in happier news, mrs murphy and i are going on a trip, starting friday. we're going to drive down the coast and visit the outer banks of NC, myrtle beach SC, and charleston SC.
(Wed May 12, 2004 - 8:58:34 am)
Chewing Wax:
That sounds great. Charleston is supposed to be so nice. My friend is in Columbia all this week. I'm going to Charlotte next Thursday for the Catholic baby dunking ceremony.
(Wed May 12, 2004 - 9:01:56 am)
