The transmission lines are 10,000 volts, and the idea is to run transmission cable up to the cabin and then convert it to 220 right at the doorstep. You lose a lot of umph in the voltage if you try to transmit a long way at 220.

They have a new system coming in soon here . you put a windmill on your roof and sell back into the grid what you dont use. it was illegal but they changed the law recently. I'm going to be a power mogol.
