some old houses in hadleigh where my best mate lives have all the old brass fittings outside the front door, where people used to clean their boots before going indoors. for ages i thought they were something you tied your horse to.

They were stone pillars, about three feet hight with metal rings attached to them at the top to hook up your horse on the side of the road.
