My hair wasn't its natural color when I met you myk. I think we're going to come back to DC.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 9:47:35 am)
Myk Murphy:
yeah, total 1 hit wonders... in the US, anyway. did they have some sort of secret following in the UK?
by the way, froupie, i finally got to hear franz ferdinand's tune off their website, and they rock.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 9:48:16 am)
Myk Murphy:
yeah, i didn't think "platinum blonde" suited you then, bela.
returning to our tiny hamlet? excellent. name the venue.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 9:49:20 am)
bela:
Chris has contacted the Velvet Lounge and is waiting to hear back from them I guess.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 9:50:30 am)
bela:
I don't know, that place was a shithole.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 9:50:49 am)
Froupie:
kajagoogoo, heh hehe. limahl is gay-as-u-like, i dunno about the rest. the bassplayer played like he was gay. they really sucked.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 9:50:54 am)
Froupie:
franz ferdinand are great, the guitarist is really good. i'm liking their retro/futro sound.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 9:51:34 am)
Froupie:
if kajagoogoo had stayed together i think i'd be in prison for murder
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:10:24 am)
bela:
I think they were more of a hit in England, I don't know. I don't remember anything big about them here but the way they were talking like they were the next Beatles. Really funny.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:11:14 am)
Froupie:
that bassplayers poodle fluff hairdo with the beads uck. uck.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:12:40 am)
bela:
They're your people.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:14:33 am)
Chewing Wax:
Good morning
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:14:50 am)
Myk Murphy:
clearly, they ate plenty of nuts to get hair that shiny. (insert your own follow-up "nut" joke here.)
the velvet lounge is a total hole, but it has a pretty good rep around here. try for the black cat. neither place is as good for your sound as iota, however. you really should play there. alt-country lives in arlington, not the district.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:15:35 am)
Froupie:
not my people. oh no.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:15:40 am)
Froupie:
myk made a funny.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:16:12 am)
Myk Murphy:
howdy, wax.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:17:13 am)
Myk Murphy:
i'll try to not let it happen again.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:18:03 am)
Chewing Wax:
I'm going to see Bruce Coburn on Friday at The Tralf.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:20:24 am)
Chewing Wax:
I don't have much to say about music, so I thought I'd say that. It's all I got.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:20:41 am)
Froupie:
who's bruce coburn?
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:21:06 am)
Chewing Wax:
I meant Cockburn
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:21:15 am)
Chewing Wax:
Does that help any?
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:22:41 am)
Froupie:
nope.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:24:51 am)
Froupie:
i like leonard cohen though
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:27:18 am)

Chewing Wax:
He's one of my favorites. I listened to him a lot in highschool when this came out.
I recorded it off the radio. The other side was Get The Knack!. That was good tape.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:34:44 am)
Myk Murphy:
heh heh, speaking of tapes, i've recently rescued a whole box of great cassettes from a closet in my parents' house. mid-80s to early 90s, most of it. all in very good condition.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:40:09 am)
Froupie:
bruce looks like lofty from eastenders!
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:40:34 am)
Chewing Wax:
That's so cool.
I have a box of recordings of my old college radio shows somewhere. You can tell I have a huge wad of Kodiak in my mouth most of the time.
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:41:00 am)
Chewing Wax:
Yikes
(Tue Feb 3, 2004 - 10:41:13 am)
Myk Murphy:
we made a few tapes of some of our college radio shows. i sounded like such a dork sometimes, but at least the chatter was kept to a relative minimum, and the music was good. we played a lot of janet jackson and boy bands.
