(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 11:10:20 am)

Chewing Wax:

(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 11:45:58 am)

bela:
Human Resources.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 11:53:13 am)

bela:
The new boss, who has never said two words to me, had a piece of paper that he was referring to as he listed my department's complaints about me, he said hes been meeting with my workmates every work to discuss my progress - whatever that means and he said if I don't improve that he will "have to take the next step" - he didn't clarify what that was. I've never had a bad review and have never been given any concrete evidence of doing anything wrong - or steps to improve. If something negative has been written about me, I have a right to know and a right to see it. He is having meetings with my workmates excluding me - that is biased and I cannot represent my side. All these complaints I have against him.

Froupie:
a similar thing happened to my sister last year when she worked at vidal sassoon, she'd worked there for 7 years and they sacked her and treated her like shit. she took them to a tribunal and they didnt have a leg to stand on, they ended up settling out of court for £7000.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 12:07:06 pm)

Queenie:
that's like getting a shiny new fiver!
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 12:49:30 pm)

Queenie:
oh man, I spent months building this one really lovely website and the client went in and made it all hideous. I hate that. Now I can't put it on my resume.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 12:54:21 pm)

alternity:
i hate when that happens Queenie
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:30:15 pm)

Decoy:
They can't do that, bela. That borders on harrassment. You should say you know that they've been sneaking around on you. They can't just do that without telling you they are doing that. That's so illegal.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:30:36 pm)

Decoy:
Though, by notifying you now that you are on probation and putting a note in your HR record can give them grounds for termination later if ycontinue to not do your job. I assume kissing ass isn't in your job description. I would go over your job description with this boss and have him explain it to you just so you are both perfectly clear on your expectations. That's the next step.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:33:27 pm)

Decoy:
I can't just go and put a keystroke logger on someone at work's computer unless I tell them that I'm going to do so. Its kinda like that I think.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:35:46 pm)

Dr Ruth:
yes, definately get a job prescription.
a strong one
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:37:47 pm)

bela:
I'm going to Human Resources and telling them I am concerned about a meeting I had with my new boss. I'm telling them about the paper. I'm telling them that there is no clarity, no evidence I've done anything wrong. There wasn't a plan discussed for me to follow for improvement. I'm going to tell them about the meetings I am excluded from and his "next step" comment. The ambiguity and non clarity of the situation. I really think I'm being treated unfairly now, this is sort of ridiculous. I don't expect HR to be on my side, thats not what is important to me, getting this meeting documented is all I care about.

Here's how stupid people are: LONDON (Reuters) - Sales of mobile phone ring tones, those tinny song recordings programmed into millions of handsets around the world, jumped 40 percent in the past year to $3.5 billion, according to a study released on Tuesday.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:39:28 pm)

bela:
I haven't been notified of anything. I want to leave.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:40:34 pm)

Decoy:
HR has to be objective and follow the rules. And tell you what the rules are, for that matter. They are the line of defense for you suing the company for 100,000 dollars instead of 10,000.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:41:15 pm)

Decoy:
One stupid supervisor or co-worker is a lot different from a company policy of abuse and degradation.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:42:29 pm)

bela:
Companies take the side of the company.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:47:35 pm)

Detlef Sping:
I think you're being treated unfairly too. Make a lot of noise.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:49:34 pm)

Detlef Sping:
The "boss" cant go having meetings about you without you being at least notified.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:51:03 pm)

Detlef Sping:
Goddamn pink idiots.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:51:41 pm)

Detlef Sping:
Time to bring in the Teamsters.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:52:18 pm)

Decoy:
Not really, one bad supervisor is easy to fix cause its the action of one person that isn't following the rules. IF its company policy to treat people illegally then they are in BIG trouble. I gotta think that the supervisor went to HR to ask how to conduct this investigation, and they showed him in the employee handbook, which you signed and agreed to the terms of. just what he can do with a problem employee. A compay really can't fire someone for anything but failure to perform a job. I suppose there's layoffs and such, but they are beholding to your unemployment for that.
(Tue Jan 13, 2004 - 1:53:29 pm)

Decoy:
By noise, I think Sping means like ask them to send whatever information they feel is pertinant to the situation to your lawyer for your review.
