Myk Murphy:
so many trendy names. american child-naming is out of control. it's very simple: name your children for deceased or older family members, unless they have stupid names. please don't name kids with presidential surnames or names you hear on TV (white folks) and please don't invent pseudo-french or use poorly transcribed west african names (black folks).

naming a child is serious business; pop-culture references or pretentious labels are not suitable.

I love this man:
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU TOO!!! Happy New Year to everyone out there! I had a wonderful New Year's Eve with an amazing dinner of Italian food, and then I also got finished in time to watch the ball drop into Times Square! The big countdown is always so exciting! I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and did what they wanted to do - ring it in right! You know? Now we all have the chance to appreciate what good things have come through, and work more on straightening out the crooked stuff. The thing is, everyday can be your new year - it doesn't need to be the calander day - you can set new goals and resolutions whenever you desire. This is a fresh start, but every second of every hour can also be your fresh start - and we don't want it to be completely fresh, do we? I mean, if we wipe the slate completely clean then we won't have all the awesome stuff that we experienced and learned. So, we must take it all with us, even the hard times, because we know they make us stronger and better and smarted. We must carry it all with us - it doesn't need to weight us down, in fact it can help lift us up, but we don't need to forget about it - it's there to help us. This is another year to do what needs to be done. It's our reminder to get working on what you're commited to. It's a wake up call for our desires and determinations. It is not a lost cause! This is the moment you've been waiting for, and the time to wait has run out - but we are glad it did, because now the future it here and we get to live in it. Let's make it better and make it right! Don't just blow it off! Even if we don't feel like doing the right stuff, we need to! It won't be easy and it won't come right away, but we will know deep down inside that our hearts are beating true and strong! Thank you everyone! Happy New Year! Let's make it great together! We will never let down. Your friend, Andrew W.K.

"mrs happy hoppypants" is a very popular child's name among white couples with household annual incomes between $55k and $85k. i think it would work for a cat, too.
