I remember when I was a kid -- the year 2004 seemed like a jillion years away. crazy. and now here we are, and everything's pretty much the same...except for palm pilots.
(Thu Jan 1, 2004 - 10:09:15 pm)
Myk Murphy:
funny you should mention "the future". right now, and for no good reason, i'm watching "soylent green" on TCM. charlton heston in 2022. a heavily polluted world, and 40 million people living in new york city. in the film, he just ran into a very cranky middle-aged bela, and her ancient dog bit him.

Queenie:
it's funny, when you look at movies from the sixties how they thought the year 2000 and on would be...they were completely off the mark. It was supposed to be all about space travel and hovering cars...and technology has advanced in ways that it seems no one saw coming. I've never seen an old movie in which they anticipated cell phones or tiny computers. When we were kids, my dad used to say, "One day, there will be one big cable coming into your house that will bring you your phone and television and connect all the computers" and we say, "Yeah right, old man." But he was the only one who really had a handle on future technologies.

the year of the green wooden monkey doesnt start until february. plenty of time to stock up on cheesy puffs.
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 7:10:13 am)
Myk Murphy:
good morning, pro-primate prognosticators. a monkey year isn't so bad. as for the future, "soylent green" missed everything, but the global warming prediction is still quite possible.
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 7:30:08 am)
Cushca:
I hate monkeys. Happy New Year, bastards,
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 8:23:28 am)
Myk Murphy:
hi, cushca. by the way, send me an email, as i don't have your email address. no monkeys will be sent in reply.
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 8:25:32 am)
Cushca:
I don't have yours either, and so can't send you one. What to do, what to do.....
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 8:26:09 am)
Myk Murphy:
mykmurphy@yahoo.com is my "public" email address. or ask sleepy for any of my other accounts.
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 8:41:50 am)
Cushca:
Sleepy? I'm not sure I'd even know how to contact her now.
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 9:15:04 am)
Myk Murphy:

(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 9:20:53 am)
Sleepy:

(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 9:38:03 am)
EaTrom:

(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 9:39:02 am)
Sleepy:
Here's my one minute of internet access. It's so quiet at work. I need to blast some music around the building.
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 9:39:21 am)
Sleepy:

(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 9:40:22 am)

Chewing Wax:
It's the calm before the storm. I can feel it. Has that probe flown through that comet tail yet? That probe has my name on it. In tiny little letters. Etched in gold. Or something.
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 9:45:06 am)
Chewing Wax:
It's going to bring that dust back to Earth. Dust we have no business playing with. Evil comet zombie dust. Doomed.
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 9:47:04 am)
Myk Murphy:
dust makes me sneeze. hello, wax. did new year's eve treat you well?

I had a lot of fun. It was just a nice little get together. How about you? Anyone jump out of any windows?
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 9:49:33 am)
Cushca:
I sat on a sofa all night. Does that count as exciting?
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 9:52:59 am)
Chewing Wax:
Anything you do is exciting to me.
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 9:54:02 am)
Myk Murphy:
no window jumping. my evening was not unlike that of our lovely cushca. i'm working from home today, so i'm attempting to keep the new year's holiday thing going through the weekend.
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 9:56:39 am)
Chewing Wax:
I need more coffee.
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 9:59:27 am)
Myk Murphy:

(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 10:07:02 am)
:
archs of Taco Bell spewed across the parking lot
making him lurch for the coffee machine
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 10:08:57 am)
Chewing Wax:
I drink it. I need it. I love it. Coffee.
(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 10:17:15 am)

(Fri Jan 2, 2004 - 10:17:45 am)
