(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:34:34 am)

bela:
Don't think I didn't see that coming.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:34:46 am)

Decoy:
Well, the new toric type contact lenses are awesome. Its like a whole new world with the astigmatism corrected. I can't believe they let me drive a car before.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:34:52 am)

Froupie:
i wear toric decoy
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:35:37 am)

Decoy:
How long have you used them for? THe eye doc said they've only been out for three years.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:36:42 am)

bela:
I need new glasses. What is astigmatism again? Do you have it in both eyes?
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:37:12 am)

Froupie:
i'm on a different make now, but i used to wear the Igel ones, i'm sure i've been wearing toric for more than 3 years.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:37:25 am)

Froupie:
i have them in both eyes now.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:37:41 am)

Froupie:
actually im sure i started wearing torics about 4 or 5 years ago.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:38:04 am)

Decoy:
They approve things faster over there, we have the FDA to pay off.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:39:09 am)

Decoy:
Astigmatism is a deformity of the lens in your eyeball where the shape is slightly oval. the axis can be anything so that the distortion isn't just a focus thing.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:40:39 am)

Froupie:
yeah, they stopped making the Igel torics because of some health regulation, but they were perfect for me. the ones i have now are really good too. i'm too scared to have that laser correction. what if they burn a whole in my head.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:41:00 am)

Froupie:
hole
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:41:23 am)

bela:
Wow, so things looks smeary?
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:41:30 am)

:
Astigmatism occurs when the cornea is shaped more like an oblong football than a spherical baseball, which is the normal shape. The oblong shape causes light rays to focus on two points in the back of your eye, rather than on just one. Many people are born with this oblong cornea, and the resulting vision problem may get worse over time.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:41:40 am)

Decoy:
No, not smeary, more like confused.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:42:30 am)

bela:
Interesting. I did not know what that was. I don't think I've ever known anyone with it. My friends that have glasses are pretty much blind.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:42:36 am)

Froupie:
i'm always confused anyhow.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:42:45 am)

Decoy:
Its very common. My dad had it. I don't know if its heriditary, though,
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:45:23 am)

Decoy:
I was looking at new glasses, too. Because my prescription changed for the better. Its all these tiny narrow glasses. THey look like they'll be dated in about a minute.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:47:50 am)

Froupie:
yeah my sight got bette but my astigmatisms got a bit worse. i got these cute glasses last year and i almost fainted they cost £400. my bosskindly paid for half of it because companies over here pay for employees eye tests and something towards glasses or lenses.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:49:38 am)

Decoy:
Yeah it would be out of my pocket, There's no decent eye care insurance.
Something like this:

(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:52:45 am)

Decoy:
If there's any money left in the FSA after I total all the healthcare up, I might do it. Its use it or lose it money.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:55:36 am)

Froupie:
those are nice. i don't really understand how your healthcare works out. how much can you spend a year?
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 9:59:16 am)

bela:
I signed on for eyeglasses benefit. Its like $2 out of my paycheck and it pays for eye exams and $125 towards frames. The glasses I have now are really dorky.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 10:01:39 am)

(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 10:17:24 am)

Decoy:
I use the pretax FSA approach. Any plan we can get that covers eyecare is rediculous. We don;t do dental either, its actually cheaper just to pay cash and claim it on FSA. Insurance is neccessary to a point.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 10:20:13 am)

Decoy:
Sperm? How hard can be to get that? No pun intended.
(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 10:21:42 am)

Froupie:

(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 10:26:46 am)

(Thu Dec 18, 2003 - 10:27:43 am)
