Decoy:
You see, our experts describe you as an appallingly dull fellow, unimaginative, timid, lacking in initiative, spineless, easily dominated, no sense of humour, tedious company and irrepressibly drab and awful. And whereas in most professions these would be considerable drawbacks, in chartered accountancy they are a positive boon.

Decoy:
I think that all good, right thinking people in this country are sick and tired of being told that all good, right thinking people in this country are fed up with being told that all good, right thinking people in this country are fed up with being sick and tired. I'm certainly not, and I'm sick and tired of being told that I am

Heruka:
I see. Well, of course, this is just the sort of blinkered philistine pig-ignorance I've come to expect from you non-creative garbage. You sit there on your loathsome spotty behinds squeezing blackheads, not caring a tinker's cuss for the struggling artist. You excrement, you whining hypocritical toadies with your colour TV sets and your Tony Jacklin golf clubs and your bleeding masonic secret handshakes. You wouldn't let me join, would you, you blackballing bastards. Well I wouldn't become a Freemason now if you went down on your lousy stinking knees and begged me.

Queenie:
top five bands that some people think they're supposed to like because it makes them look cool but that they secretly don't like because they suck: velvet underground, new york dolls

I've only got two so far.

Evil Decoy:
Be back next year - out.
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:17:28 pm)

bela:
Its not about whether they suck Queenie. You don't know what you're talking about. The Velvet Underground were way before they''re time. They were the pre punk movement. The Velvet Underground, Johnathan Richman, MC5.
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:25:45 pm)

bela:
You think Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers suck too? You don't know what you're talking about. Very influential these bands.
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:26:47 pm)

Queenie:
Woo hoo!
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:27:09 pm)

Queenie:
Sorry. Just making trouble.
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:27:56 pm)

bela:
Thats ok, I just schooled you.
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:33:11 pm)

Queenie:
technically I think you have to tell me something I don't know to have 'schooled' me.
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:40:25 pm)

bela:
I don't think you knew. I truly believe you didn't know.
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:40:54 pm)

Queenie:
which part? you're nutty. Anyway I like the velvet underground just fine. but seriously -- you can't argue with the fact that the new york dolls, while maybe being an influence on some, was a really terrible band.
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:42:46 pm)

bela:
I am nutty. The New York Dolls.
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:46:06 pm)

Queenie:
though I got made love for david johansen. especially in "scrooged" which I just watched the other day.
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:50:32 pm)

Queenie:
yes it was the homecoming episode of little house!! heh.
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:50:45 pm)

Queenie:
anyway, the point is...it's a bad sign if you have to take a band in context to appreciate them. maybe they were influencial, maybe they were ahead of their time, but if you strip them of that context and they just sound awful, well...then...they're probably not a very good band. but I'm not one to talk -- I listen to lots of terrible music because of a certain context.
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:54:06 pm)

bela:
I think Johnny Thunders was the talented one. Id on't know.
(Tue Dec 16, 2003 - 1:54:32 pm)

bela:
Its a bad sign if you have to take a band in context to appreciate them? I don't know, I have the 3rd VU album and I think its good.
