Thieves who stole a woman's purse in Brussels drove their getaway car into security barriers surrounding the European summit.

Police have described the pair as the most stupid thieves in the country after the incident on Saturday.

Several hundred police officers were on duty in the European quarter as leaders met to discuss the future of the European Constitution.

The men were shot at by several of the officers after they feared a terrorist attack was under way, reports the Expatica website.

The pair managed to escape back through the broken barrier, but were later found in a nearby hospital's accident and emergency department where they'd gone for treatment.

A Commission spokesman said the two men would probably have got away with the crime, if they'd paid attention to the news and fled in the other direction.

Gourmets in India have feasted on a buffet of rats and mice to celebrate ancient tribal eating habits in Uttar Pradesh.

At a dinner organised in Lucknow by Dinu Singh, guests have been offered rodents caught in the hills of eastern central Bundelkhand.

'Highlights' of the buffet included roasted rats in a variety of sauces and mice meat kebabs.

Hindustan Times reporter Alka Rastogi said: "The mice biryani and a choice of rodent soups proved especially popular amongst the invitees.

"It is a tradition of which Dinu Singh and others of the Musahar tribe are very proud. Singh in fact recalled how rodent feasts were a grand occasion in the ancestral villages and his forefathers had their meals with nude women drinking and dancing around them.

"While many of the former tribesmen are now well-to-do city dwellers, scantily clad hostesses at the rat buffet served to remind them of their heritage", reports the Hindustan Times.

According to the Musahar tribe, the practice of eating rats and mice began at a time when the community was too poor to buy wholesome food.

"Rats and mice are as much a delicacy to us as flesh, fish and fowl are to others", insisted Mr Singh.

Piss off back there then & take that Coldplay twit with you:
Movie star Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed her pet hates about the UK.The American star, who lives in London's Belgravia, said the weather, traffic wardens and the cost of petrol are aspects of British life she dislikes. She told Time Out magazine: "You can't park illegally even for two seconds. The parking wardens are very officious."

She said parking fines were "inordinately high" and petrol prices "exorbitant".

The Shakespeare In Love star, who is expecting her first child with Coldplay singer Chris Martin, 26, spent her early years in California and struggles to adjust to the British weather.

The 31-year-old added: "There's something that happens when it's very cold and grey.

"Sometimes it gets to be very wearing, especially if, like me, you lived in California until you were ten.

"Then it breaks and you think: 'This is the most fascinating city in the world'."
