hmmm, I fear this may be a cold depressing snowy winter. but it will possibly leave a lasting impression, and make me not want to return to the north in future years. I wantr to spend winter somewheres way south. where summer spends the winter.

I just got the news that after raising my town tax 11.2% the county is raising their end 12%. Soo, now thats funny. The fundamental incompetence in government is just stunning. They insist on spending money they don't have. And won't budge on it. Insane, just insane. IF it paid better, I'd run for office. Which may be one of the fundamentsal issues - people are in it more for power, not for a job well done for honest pay. Ok, its all crap. At least we should pay for the crap as we go and not finance crap for the future. I hate paying for broken crap after its long gone. Yeah yeah, yada yada yada.

christmas calamari.. now theres an idea. i like a bit of roast pork or a big salmon, i hate turkey. blueghghg.

and i make this potato dish at xmas. slice up potatoes and layer the slices on the bottom of a dish, then a layer of spinach, then a layer of single cream, then the potatoes again, keep doing this til you reach the top of the dish, add garlic and pepper etc if you want and plenty of cream. roast until its all golden and crispy on top and voila! its ready. ultra fattening but once a year its not gonna kill ya eh?
