Heruka:
here's a thought:

europe keeps growing to despise the US more every day. the US and euro relation is like a bad divorce, and europe is the bitter party, more worried about their Ex than rebuilding their own lives. hence schroeders re-election. as their economies continue t downslide, and they become more and more socially defunct, they seem to hate us more. America is just a means for them to ignore their own problems. not that it matters, Americans are largely idifferent towards europe and europeans. in short, the child(the US in the case) has outgrown and outperformed europe. so now they resent us.

America has it's own problems, our children(Japan, China(in this case china)) are outgrowing us and outperforming us. we're still world leaders on every level. but the writing is on the wall, or so it seems. is it possuble we're becoming bitter towards China? we were bitter towards Japan back in the 80's, before their economy started tanking. are we mentally becoming europe? becoming bitter at the success of others? I'd hate to think so.

Heruka:
I'm interested in opinions on this matter.
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:07:54 pm)

Heruka:
the last couple of months, I've taken the mindset of being anti-globalization. mind you, it's just my thought process. I adopt ideals, then roll them around in my head for a while, then ultimately keep them as my own, or more often reject them.
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:10:40 pm)

Detlef Sping:
You roll them around in your head, eh?
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:12:34 pm)

Heruka:
well, you think about it, then absorb more info on the subject, then you either agree or disagree.
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:15:17 pm)

Detlef Sping:
China isn't your child, they are your crazy neighbors that eat weird shit and stay to themselves and mutter and slyly plot your eventual consumption grated into an egg roll with a plate of fish fluffs.
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:17:21 pm)

Heruka:
I disagree with anti-globalization. I agree it should be done in a more concensiousness manner, but I suppose it hould be done. there are other people in the world besides Americans.
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:17:22 pm)

Detlef Sping:
Hmm.
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:18:35 pm)

Heruka:
you think China is planing something sinister? I figure, considering it's the influx of Ameican technology and capital that largely put China in it's present position, it is our 'child'.
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:19:07 pm)

Detlef Sping:
China is your customer.
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:19:37 pm)

Detlef Sping:
Yes China will eat you.
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:19:53 pm)

Detlef Sping:
Swarm you like ants holding your legs and arms, stripping your bones, taking your molecules apart piece by delicious piece.
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:21:53 pm)

Detlef Sping:
Just ask the Ming dynasty.
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:22:43 pm)

Detlef Sping:
Go ahead ask them, I'll wait.
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:23:35 pm)

Heruka:
so you're saying the Chinese will be our masters? Hmm, I dunno. by the time that has the ability to materialize, the world will be a vastly different place I suspect. the New World Order will have taken hold, and also have CVhina under its thumb. the 'global village' will be nothing but smiling faces, and every race, ethnic group will hold hands and sing together.
(Sun Nov 9, 2003 - 7:25:24 pm)

Heruka:

A Thai man has set a new world record by spending 28 days in a glass box with 1,000 centipedes.

The 26-year-old insect wrangler says he was bitten only five times throughout his stay.

Boontawee Siengwong dedicated his record to his girlfriend, who last year set her own record by spending 32 days in a glass box with thousands of live scorpions.

For his efforts Mr Siengwong won a motorcycle, a watch and $1,000.

Decoy:
China is a horse to ride. You'll see - they can't keep the people poor forever. The USSR was crushed into a meaningless rabble. I don't see why China would be immune to the Beatles and Levis weapon of mass dysfunction, Once the playing field is evened, our greed will bury them. This is going to be great.
(Mon Nov 10, 2003 - 8:12:41 am)

Decoy:
But then, I'm an optomatrist.
