(Wed Oct 15, 2003 - 3:35:36 pm)

bela:
Yeah, its major surgery. He had to get clearance from our doctor so he could get anesthetized because he smokes and hes overweight. So the surgery nurse got our doctor's cell number and called on three way with tom on the phone. Tom said Dr. Weiser was at the Yankee game, he could hear Yankee fans he said. That was funny.

i know the hospital thing..bela my dad is recovering from bypass surgery..hes doing good.
(Wed Oct 15, 2003 - 4:06:05 pm)

bela:
Yeah I told him I wouldn't worry since he isn't getting a major organ operated on but I said learn from this and think of what its like to face heart surgery. That must be the worst. What is a bypass?
(Wed Oct 15, 2003 - 4:10:06 pm)

:
Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery restores blood flow to heart tissue that has been deprived of blood because of coronary artery disease. During bypass surgery, a new graft vessel that will carry oxygenated blood around the blockage in a coronary artery is surgically removed from another location in the body. The graft vessel is a healthy artery or vein taken from the leg, arm, or chest. It is then transferred to the outside of the heart (Fig. 14). The graft vessel supplies oxygenated blood to the part of the heart that needs it. In a few words, the blocked area of a coronary artery is bypassed, which is where the name bypass comes from.
