Precious! Yeah its a little tiny bird really. They have to have a little bed and a blanket or you can make a bed out of a blanket but they have to be warm and comfortable all the time.

Myk Murphy:
good afternoon, folks. the rains are here, and the wind is picking up. in about 90 minutes, things should start getting interesting. mrs murphy and i fueled up on a pizza buffet, so we're set. flashlights, water, and cookies. what the hell else could we need?
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 2:29:36 pm)
Heruka:
joy buzzers?
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 2:35:06 pm)
Myk Murphy:

Decoy:

(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 2:45:42 pm)
Heruka:

The camera moved a little, but there you go.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:05:49 pm)
bela:
I can see franco in a little row boat with paddles.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:06:35 pm)
Heruka:
according to the website, the live camera was knocked out. so the second pic with the flooding was taken at 10am this morning with a manual camera, before high tide even.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:07:21 pm)
Heruka:
6-8 foot of flooding going on there today I bet. hmm.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:09:23 pm)
Heruka:
sorry the second pic was taken at 11:45, but without checking the tide ranges, I think the tide peaks about 2.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:11:16 pm)
bela:
That sucks, where is that?
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:14:48 pm)
Myk Murphy:

(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:15:38 pm)
Heruka:
Oriental Harbor North Carolina. flooding is just that, flooding. I used to know a guy who got flooded regularly as the river thawed during the January thaw, and he loved it. he paid off his house in five years with flood money. the Feds just hand him a check for damages occured during the flooding, and he would just do the work himself.
the serious damage to this hurricane seems minimal.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:19:21 pm)
bela:
Sorry Myk, be careful.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:19:39 pm)
bela:
So what, you just sit inside.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:20:30 pm)
Myk Murphy:
things might not be so bad here, bela, although it appears that we're going to get the northeast part of the 'cane, which is the biggest bitch slap it can give. the flooding will suck for folks near water, but i hope it's minimal. old town alexandria will probably get nasty flooding this weekend.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:26:19 pm)
Myk Murphy:
we've got snacks, we'll park inside. i just spoke to my parents who live pretty close by, and their power has flickered a bit. mom worries, but she's always worrying. we won't be sleeping upstairs tonight, cuz of the massive trees towering over our house. we're cozying up in the basement. it's a finished part of the basement, so it's cool.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:29:24 pm)
Heruka:
beef jerky? beer? the staples of human existance.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:32:06 pm)
Myk Murphy:
as for me, i'll be monitoring the house tonight, so i don't expect much sleep. all the heavy stuff will be overnight. not very convenient.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:32:21 pm)
Myk Murphy:
i've got the beer. that's good news.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:32:40 pm)

(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:33:15 pm)

I lived through a couple I think. I couldn't stand losing electricity again that sucked.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:45:58 pm)
Chewing Wax:
I should stock up on ice or something I guess.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:46:31 pm)
Heruka:
is it good beer? Sam Adams? Guinness? Shipyard? I'd hate to have the authorities find your body floating in your flooded basement amongst a bunch of cans of Bush Light or Budweiser.
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:47:42 pm)
Queenie:
geez
(Thu Sep 18, 2003 - 3:50:19 pm)
