Myk Murphy:
now that i've glanced at today's archives, i see that decoy's question may have something to do with straightening a wheel.
you're more likely to get richard simmons straight than most bike wheels, i think. spring for a decent (although not fancy) new replacement wheel. if the tube and tire are still good, put 'em on. i just hope you haven't damaged the fork end (if it's the front) or the rear derailleur (if it's the rear wheel).

Decoy:
New wheel, eh, Myk? Its only a $300 dollar bike. I saw how to do it in "Breaking Away." But then again, I've read several places that its an art and not something to fuck with if you don't know what you're doing. Can I just get the same rim re-laced? OR, I would expect to pay around $35 for a new wheel for a bike like that?

It's headed straight for Buffalo according to all the models. But by then, it will only be rain. Sweet summer rain.

how badly is the wheel bent decoy? if it's only a little beny, then it may be cappable of being adjusted through using the spokes. but go to kmart and buy a new rim.
