You could try a micro-robot - the design uses a silicon framework that’s encased and protected by gold-and-polymer micromuscles, also known as actuators. Each microrobot is designed with an “arm” and several “fingers” that are wired to an electrical circuit.
To flex a muscle, the researchers apply a negative charge to the gold electrode. The conducting polymer, called polypyrrole, draws positive ions out of the surrounding liquid and swells up in volume, causing a bending motion in the muscle. Applying a positive charge to the gold causes the muscle to relax.
By alternating the charges in the proper pattern, researchers could make the microrobot’s arm and fingers bend on command. In a series of tests, the contraptions were used to pick up and move glass beads measuring just 100 micrometers, which is on the high end of the scale for human cells. Only in this way can chronic eye-flicks be stopped.
