Have a great time Queenie, or I hope you did. I'm off to another ballgame. WHoop. The fun we have. Decoy called from one of my favourite restaurants in Saratoga just to leave a message telling me he was having steamed clams. He's hiked it up a notch. Could be war.

Myk Murphy:
i got a bit of sun yesterday, as well. i was teaching my better half the magic of the standard transmission. she drove around in circles in my MG, and i stood in the middle of the circle, providing suggestions regarding the clutch, shifting, etc. i enjoyed it very much, and she didn't even get mad at me. well, once. later in the day i went biking on a local trail i hadn't tried yet. the trail disintegrated into a muddy bog, so i was a bit muddy when i returned.
(Sun Jun 4, 2000 - 11:09:03 am)
Chewing Wax:
Yes. Go Blazers. Even though I can't stand that freak with the long blond hair. Glad you got out of the bog alive Myk. Those things are dangerous.

Even Shaq? He's pretty cool. And that Kobe Bryant guy is HOT! Good player too. But I'd still take Rasheed Wallace or Brian Grant over any of them.

I think it's really funny and clever when women talk about lesbians in order to prick-tease men. Really funny and clever.
(Mon Jun 5, 2000 - 4:03:38 am)
Cushca:
Oh dear. Did I say that out loud?
(Mon Jun 5, 2000 - 4:03:54 am)
Dr GB:
Don't forget how clever it is to make films about rape too. That really gets them going.
(Mon Jun 5, 2000 - 4:08:18 am)
Queenie:
Exactly what purpose does it serve to tear me down like that? Why do you enjoy trying to make me feel bad about my project? It's so pointless and I do see what good it could possibly do anyone.
(Mon Jun 5, 2000 - 4:36:24 am)
Queenie:
I mean, "don't see what good"
(Mon Jun 5, 2000 - 4:36:35 am)
Cushca:
It's just an opinion. I think you'll find that you're quite free to have one about me also.
(Mon Jun 5, 2000 - 4:52:53 am)
Queenie:
You didn't answer my question.: Exactly what purpose does it serve to tear me down like that?
(Mon Jun 5, 2000 - 4:54:26 am)
Cushca:
It serves absolutely no purpose at all Queenie. But then, what purpose does it serve to make a film about gang rape? And what purpose does it serve to go on and on about your "maybe lesbian" friend? Apart from to try and whip silly boys into a frenzy. Or maybe you have no idea that boys like to wank over lesbians? Yes, maybe that's it.
(Mon Jun 5, 2000 - 4:59:44 am)
Queenie:
First of all, my film is not "about" gang rape. It happens at one point, but it's not what the film is about. You have absolutely NO IDEA what my film is about, so please stop talking as though you do.
Second, if people shied away from portraying tragic events in movies, then most of the greatest movies ever made would never have been made. I seriously doubt you really feel that way - you're just playing devil's advocate.
Third, I did not "go on and on" about my lesbian friend...I was just chatting, cause that's what people do in a chat room. They chat. Myk asked, so I told him. I offered up the stuff about her dad and her prom and all that because it was interesting to me. It was actually quite a stumbling block for the film to have to re-write what we considered to be a key part of the story. But you wouldn't really be interested in that.
Fourth, I have absolutely no intention of trying to whip the boys in here into a frenzy. I think you feel all threatened when I come in here and these guys talk to me. But I'm not interested in competing for their attention. If they talk to me, they do. If they don't, they don't. Whatever.
(Mon Jun 5, 2000 - 5:11:11 am)
Cushca:
Yes. It's true Queenie. I feel very threatened by you. But only in the sense that you would actually beat me in a "spouting shit" competition.
(Mon Jun 5, 2000 - 5:13:39 am)
Dr GB:
I'm not doing anything to tear you down, but I would be keen to know what makes someone who is the mother of a young girl decide to make a film which covers gang rape. Male film-makers, fine, they get off on whatever they get off on. But surely as a woman and as a mother, films about gang rape would turn your stomach to watch, let alone make.
(Mon Jun 5, 2000 - 5:16:00 am)
Queenie:
THANK YOU for finally making a decent point, and one that I am happy to discuss.
It's not at all something I "get off on" by any means, and it turned my stomach quite a bit to write it, as well as a couple of other heart-breaking scenes, but that's where the story needed to go. So I wrote it. The Muse spoke, I obeyed.
The scene is very brief, and the rape is only implied. But still, it's there. As I said before, we needed events so powerful that they effectively demonstrated the principle on which the movie is based. Truth is, we're talking about one to two minutes of story, versus two hours of other stuff. And you don't even know what that other stuff is. It all makes more sense in the big picture. And the film has a very, very happy ending and much comedy and beautiful moments.
