Myk Murphy:
speaking as someone often described as liberal, i understand the problem plaguing tony blair. this is the same problem that condemns the learned left to a self-imposed hell. the problem: in the interest of remaining kosher and orthodox, the liberal left not only disagree heartily with the bush administration (which is reasonable), but also dismiss the possibility that informed people could agree with bush & co. (which is NOT reasonable). this sort of intellectual tyranny may seem fashionable, but in truth, it only kicks out the left's one last leg of legitimacy. in practice, this has placed the left in the (not just awkward but truly) stupid position of demanding that a murderous despot be kept in power. (the terry jones satire posted by theo displays it perfectly: the writer pretends that no evidence on iraq exists.) john le carre, the spy novelist, expressed the logic trap's design when he stated that he wanted saddam out.... but not on bush's terms. we can only hope that a left wing will be born that doesn't pride itself on self-defeating obstinance.

Heruka:
They has Dan Rather on Letterman talking about his interview with Sadam. He seems to be little more than a cheerleader for Sadam. At least he seems self-gratifying in that he takes great self joy in getting Sadams message to the American people. what an embarrassment he was to himself. he talked as though Sadam was a man of integrity. it was sad. as long as the left keeps getting polarized and the more the fanantical left gets more airtime, the more they become non-relevant in the world. does anyone take the 'peace movement' seriously? only those who are in it, and those who are so smallminded they;ll support anything leftist because that's ether what they wer bred to do. or were nicely groomed in college to believe. if the economy improives in time, Bush will easily have a second term.

"but also dismiss the possibility that informed people could agree with bush & co. (which is NOT reasonable). this "

I ranted on to bela about this behaviour yesteday. it's a strange thing. I think the media makes people who believe cetrtain things make themselves feel good about themselves, makes them believe that they are smarter, and people buy into this wholesale. read the extreme lefty sites on the web. how can someone not walk away from reading that crap and not feel smarter than the right?

Heruka:
I'm enjoying it though. watching the left dance like a chicken ona hot plate with this Iraq issue. everytime they rant and rave about soemthing, it seems to turn up that they're wrong. first Iraq wasn't breaking the laws. it turns out they are. then they couldn't possibly have weapons they the Un has disallowed them to have. then they do. I bet they find biological weapons too. I actually didn't believe the Bush Admn. at first, ut I supported what;s going on. but I can't doubt them now. these people have a million people watching their everymove, do we really think they are going to lie about anything major at this point? it would be naive to think so. but even Blix who seemes to like to go against whatever the Bush team says is conceding these notions. asll this does once again is illegitamize the lefts stance. But the point is, where does the left go? do they keep playing the race card? keep pretending that the Repubs are all rich, even though the richest in America are Dems? beyond that, and the desire for a welfare state, there's very little the Dems have left. ecspecially with a growing moderate Repubs coming up. these are Repubs of my generation. the 60's are over, move on.

Heruka:
which is the best deskyop publishing? I'm thinking of picking up Adobe Publishing Collection 12.0. Is this any good? I think It's time I upgrade my skills. If I'm moving west, I don't know anyone out there. I'll have no contacts, so I'll have to compete with those that do. I need to do more with online collaboration type stuff. I know some, but I'm not nearly as proficient with it as much as I should be.
