about the fight: no matter how much taunting occurred, adults do not throw the first punch. since the nerd did initiate physical hostilities, and a sucker punch from behind, no less, he deserved to be beaten. beaten up near the point of "trip to the ICU".

He hit him hard too - Tom had a bump and a bruise on his head. I don't know how I missed it. I saw Tom punch him though and it was remorseless. That guy has some balls, but he took it like a man, found his glasses and walked away. It was so weird.

the guy was half his size, she says, and that tom was relentless and it took two people to stop him from pummeling the guy. and if the incident was bad enough to make tom himself swear off drinking, then you know it was bad.
