Decoy:
All towns collect school taxes. I pay about 10 grand a year to the town for that. And they build huge schools and drive the busses around and get the kids and hire the teachers and all that. They have to have collected taxes. Maybe you live in a ghost town and didn't realize it, you have the tumbleweeds after all.

Portland school board members are seriously considering closing more elementary schools next year.
Board members said they’re looking into closing one or more schools because of a possible $50 million budget deficit next year on top of the $50 million hole in this year’s budget.

It would be really hard to get new digs and have a fmily without a job ina new city. Compared to be a single parent for a month or two and get a foothold. I dont know how bad it is in Portland really, but you make a good case. Se if Ken has a better suggestion. How about let him choose if he wants to be the advance party or the rear guard.

Home schooling is a good option for some. as a general rule, homeschoolers do better on SAT's than do those who attend public school. I don't remember the numbers though. should be easy to look it up. besides this, Cal. was trying to outlaw homeschooling. I wouldn't send my children to a public school in Cal. they like to brainwash them young there.

Charleston police arrested an East Bank man for allegedly having sex with a sheep used in a West Side funeral home's live nativity scene.
Joey Armstrong, 29, allegedly broke into a shed that housed the animals used in the holiday scene at the Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home on Tennessee Avenue about 5:50 a.m. Saturday, Charleston Police Sgt. Brent Webster said.
Police, who were responding to a suspicious person call, say they found the suspect at the nativity scene, Webster said.
Armstrong was charged with trespassing, destruction of property and cruelty to animals. He was being held at South Central Regional Jail on $2,500 bond.
Webster said police are consulting with the prosecutor's office and bestiality charges could be issued against Armstrong.

the problem I have with homeschooling is that, on my list of things I want to be when I grow up, a teacher is not one of them.
Plus, the stuff I dug the most in school, like putting on musicals and going to the prom and forming after-school environmental groups and being vice-president of students against drunk driving... these are things that home schooling just doesn't offer. and that's the good stuff!

I think people who homeschool their kids tend to be a bit above average in intelligence, and most public schools are not a place for smart kids. you can't teach your kids what you yourself don't understand in the first place.
