what's shocking, althogh not really, is this trent lott thing. I mean, black people make hateful racial comments all the time, but it never gets nearly as much press. the bizarre thing is, that they've actually gone to these black "leaders" and asked for their opinions on this subjuct about lott. and they act as though their opinons have merrit. it's incredible. I never liked lott. he's part of the old guard of the republican party. most republicans I know think very different from the way the older people in the party think.

he mentioned at strom thurmonds 100th birthday party that if had been elected for president in 1949 that we wouldn't have had the problems that we've had all these years. segregation was strong on stroms running ideals. although lott was probably speaking not as much as segregation as about the whole changing of the social structure within the last 50 years.

you guys won't fucking believe what I heard at school today. I've known for a while now that Sidney's school might close due to budget horrors, but I was assuming that this meant they would bus the kids to some other already over-crowded school. But today I learned that if it closes, the kids will just be schoolless. There will be nowhere for them to go to. It will be unprecedented. Some parents are already getting together and organizing some sort of home school co-op in a church basement just in case it happens. Unfuckingreal.

I'm told San Jose is great. Near San Fran, but not all gay and expensive. That's awful about the school. Actually, they can't do that. Its a Federal law that towns have to provide education. I read something about it in the constitution, I don't think they've amended that one. I bet you can sue their grafting asses to kingdom come. What the fuck did they do with the money?

I'll point out thatI've never been to California. But I hear the schools are almost as good, if not better, than New York State. Which means they are the top two states for public education. We kid, but you need to get your familty out of that Oregon place. Its not fit to9 raise a family. Maybe for a hunting lodge in the mountains or something, but not to raise kids. And that's it.

It's looking more and more like California is gonna happen. But the logistics of it are just insane, mind-bogglingly frustrating. Can't go without a place to live. Can't get a place to live without an income. Can't get a job without a place to live. Can't look for a place to live when I'm all the way up here. Can't decide which part of town to live in until we know where we'll be employed. Maddening!!!
