Myk Murphy:
the number of civilian casualties during "operation enduring freedom" pales in comparison to the civilian deaths during the lawless period preceding the taliban's de facto truce with competing factions. afghan warlords would indiscriminately shell kabul and elsewhere with little concern for a target's status.

my poor friend justina, she sent out this email accidentally, announcing a big update to her website that I hadn't done yet, so I had to stay up half the night doing it. So... I guess poor me, not poor her.

Thos people are so fucked in the head with the muslim crap they don't know which end is up. If they're so peace loving why don't the peacful ones protest against the killer terrorists? I used think that since two thirds of the world is muslim that there was no way that this is a threat . Or it would've happened already. But now I don't know... our allies children being taught to hate us. We need to get the fuck out. Everyone get an Airgen and close the borders. Sick of it. Teach the children to hate, Fuckers. I get angry easy when I'm tense. I can't wait for this mocve to be finished.

(Wed Dec 11, 2002 - 1:01:53 pm)
Myk Murphy:
you have every right to be furious, decoy. the reason for the religion-based hate is political, however. arab dictators use US/Israel hatred as the tool to distract their people from problems internal to the country. saudi arabia's per capita income has plummeted, for example. the sub-literate cleric class there is only too happy to assist. this "distraction" was once considered a harmless ploy, but now the dictators have to answer for a radicalized generation created under their watch.

the politcal and social structure of the world has taken a strange turn indeed.
(Wed Dec 11, 2002 - 1:20:24 pm)
Myk Murphy:
i like to think that it hasn't taken a turn, it's just that the divisions we chose not to speak of have become unavoidable. the dialogue is healthy, but its catalyst was tragic. for the first time in history, the informed parts of the muslim world is gazing into its collective navel, and it doesn't like what it sees. now it has a cumbersome task: take back the faith from the flat-earth society.

I bet Hitler would have had a field day in todays world. All he would need to say is "i hate America ans Israel" and bingo, the owrld would love him. Martin Sheen would be throwing himself at Hitlers feet and paising him for his bravery in standing up to the evil world dominating America.
It's all a fad I think. Like bell bottom jeans. Look at what's going on. People are protesting because America is thinking of removing a psychopathic murdering dictator. In their desire to look cool and like they love a peaceful world, they don't seem to care that the guy their trying to save is maybe not so nice. Look at Castro, the world has forgotten his ssins. To this day they torture people for political reasons. Now we have some dumbass ex resident who really should be picking peanuts thinking it may be a good idea to funnel money to these people. Look at the death penalty. people are so busy protesting the death penalty they seem to forget the crime these people do. ANd the media seems to seel eople the idea that ifn you believe this crap, you're smarter than everyone else. And of course, people want to feel smart, don't they? Does Martin Sheen want to be told that Saddam is withholding medicine(something there is plenty of) from the average Iraqi civilians in an attempt to blame the US for the deaths that occur due to their not recieving these meds? no of course not. He just wants to look cool and make himself feel better if the process. hey wait, make himself feel better? hmm. interesting. like giving a homelss drunk a beer. it seems harmless, and it makes you feel better, but you're then part of the problem. Martin Sheen isn't doing the Iraqi people any good by wanting to help keep Sadam in power. Not at all. He's very much hurting them. Anyhow, I'm rambling.

I just see a collective thought happening in the world and it's not so good. Of course it could be media driven. and maybe the squeeky wheels get the attention.
(Wed Dec 11, 2002 - 1:51:17 pm)
Myk Murphy:
it all seems to boil down to a collective antagonism toward the US, based on resentment of its power. it is excessive power, but it's largely benevolent, despite occasional excesses. it's the first empire-capable country without empire. while some deride US allies as simply client states, one has to admire american self-restraint given its vast economic, military, and communication advantage.

my Puka Puka book arrived a few minutes ago. it's even better than expected. it's in very good condition. it's pages yellowed and slightly stained just enough to let you know that it's 73 years old. perfect.

Decpy:
The US is the first super power that didn't employ an overt "empire." We exercise control over the world through money and use military might only of people don't want to play gimme your market. If it were the more enlightened world conquerors like the Romans or the English from the past, there'd be huge garrisons, viceroys, and battleships all over the place. Then the fucks would have something to shoot at. And at least they'd be shooting at the military.

Please ignore the celebrities, they were too stupid to be rocket scientists so we give them scripts for what to say. Sometimes they get loose and babble on about whatever. And they live in LA, just so you know, Queenie.

the remarkably small anti-war mobilizations we've seen thus far speak to a something obvious: america is pro-war at the moment. not politically correct to say, but true. outrage, coupled with continued violence, has most folks understanding that our role has suddenly changed. besides, saddam has got to be the easiest target to rationalize... by all neutral accounts, a known psychopath with territorial aspirations in the middle east. he might as well tattoo a bull's eye on his head.
