Queenie:

(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 4:29:15 pm)

Detlef Sping:
Only we're not on a train we're on a hydrogen filled love balloon, lighting a smoke.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 4:29:54 pm)

Detlef Sping:
There's an opening scene for you.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 4:30:56 pm)

Detlef Sping:
Oh the humanity.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 4:32:35 pm)

Queenie:
people all over the world
join hands
we're on a hydrogen filled love balloon,
love balloon

I like it
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 4:33:29 pm)

Heruka:
Hmm, we're going to the playoffs maybe. hopefully. possible, not probable. but possible.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 4:41:26 pm)

Heruka:
Shittsburgh is breaking apart and flushing themselves down the toilet. Ravens have sucked most of the season now. we're no 1/2 game behind Pitts and if the Ravens lose, we'll be a game ahead of them. this will put us alone in 2nd place in the Division.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 4:44:40 pm)

Detlef Sping:
breaking apart and flushing themselves down the toilet? jeeez.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 5:13:40 pm)

Detlef Sping:
I must be missing something.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 5:36:44 pm)

Myk Murphy:
ok, queenie, here's what you do: have the leading man or woman (doesn't matter which) do a stream-of-consciousness voiceover, but have him/her do it over a telephone. makes a great effect, and you don't have to be co-located with the actor. recording off a telephone isn't that hard, and it isn't illegal when the person is aware that he/she is being recorded.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 6:12:55 pm)

Myk Murphy:
as for the visuals during the phone voice-over: consider 1) blackness or 2) random city scenes. people love that shit.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 6:13:43 pm)

Heruka:
I want to see an art film about happy people. happy people have depth too. just as much. they're just not whiners. although there's something wrong with people that are too happy. that depressed people have more depth is the second biggest lie perpetuated on humanity. after the 'money doesn't buy happiness' bullcrap.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 7:08:42 pm)

Heruka:
have a bed in the middle of an almost empty room with lesbias going at it on the bed. and Sping wearing a babies diaper and nothing more dancing around the bed while bela sits on a wooden chair in the far corner playing her accordion. there's your scene. now that's art.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 7:10:26 pm)

Myk Murphy:
yup, he's right. shoot it in a sepia blur kinda way.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 9:37:22 pm)

Queenie:
it's the blackness over the voiceovers that's stumping me. I have three paragraphs -- one about pogue, one about ruthie, and one about frank & polly. we've got photo shoots schedules for pogue and ruthie, we're going to do b&w snapshots with some motion. but the visuals for the frank & polly bit... i don't know, i have neither actor available.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 10:36:55 pm)

Queenie:
but your ideas are fab, keep 'em coming
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 10:37:28 pm)

Decoy:
Sounds like you're trying to crap your way out of something that's already full of crap. Good luck with that crap. But its a sure way to ruin the crap thats already as crappy as its gonna get.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 10:38:17 pm)

Decoy:
Tiring.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 10:41:50 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i dunno, decoy... i'd be lying if i said i wasn't interested in seeing the results of all this effort.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 10:46:42 pm)

Queenie:
decoy quit beating around the bush and tell me how you really feel. geez.
(Sun Dec 8, 2002 - 11:34:47 pm)

theo:
I was rootin' for Buffallo, Lions, and Rams tonight..and fell short every time..:-(
(Mon Dec 9, 2002 - 12:44:06 am)

Detlef Sping:
I'll dance, but I wont wear a diaper.
(Mon Dec 9, 2002 - 12:48:13 am)

Queenie:
yeah the diaper thing's a little weird... how about a fez?

Queenie:
Today my friend Krishta was visiting an acquaintance of hers, a 50 year old woman, and while they were talking, the woman collapsed from a "brain splatter" -- I swear that's what they called it, like an aneurysm only more horrible. Anyway she was talking with this lady one minute, and the next minute the woman's on the ground, vomiting everywhere and curling violently into a fetal position. Something in her head just broke. She was just gone, in a second. Can you imagine?
(Mon Dec 9, 2002 - 3:58:36 am)

Queenie:
krishta was really shook up, as I would be.
(Mon Dec 9, 2002 - 3:58:56 am)

Queenie:
ugh, decoy's right. tiring for sure. fuck it, there's just not enough time. maybe we can work it out for future festivals, but for the purposes of the premiere, it's gonna be white letters, black screen, narration star wars-style.
(Mon Dec 9, 2002 - 5:21:52 am)

Decoy:
At RIT every year they would have a student show in the Film and Video department. Everyone in the dept from freshmen to grad students was in on a film. You see so many pieces ruined by trying to hard to make them whole. Even when they were probably pretty good at some point when the original idea was first boarded. Mostly its a shit parade because inexperienced artists tend to loose the original vision as they get caught up in the process. Unless you're ILM or something, the process as you understand it when first start out serves you and you should keep it that way. If the backstory has nothing to do with the narrative that you are presenting standing on its own or telling the story, leave it alone. If your narrative makes no sense because something's missing, well, you fucked it up and should go back to the crayons. OR you can edit out the confusing part. Anyway I started out on another point, which was something like that it might be just fine or at least as good as its going to get already.

Wow Queenie consider yourself lucky to be schooled by Decoy, he seems so knowledgeable about this stuff. You should be thankful.
(Mon Dec 9, 2002 - 9:50:39 am)

Froupie:
catchy little ditty
(Mon Dec 9, 2002 - 9:54:51 am)
