I don't understand. Everybody is screaming war and such, but there was no real war in 1990 or whenever it as. It ;asted like 3 days back then. And their military is even weaker now than it was then. It would last like a short afternoon or something. So, the way I see, the person who wrote that cartoon isn't really looking at how things are. And the person who psted it obviously ddidn;t think about anything like this either. It's really idiotic on so many levels.

Myk Murphy:
no provocation? it's funny how public opinion is one large case of "short attention span theater". everyone willfully forgets that saddam could allow in the inspectors, let them find all the bad stuff he has, and embargoes would be dropped. instead, he hides his nuclear development plants and keeps sanctions on him, thus harming his people. why do you suppose that he would abuse the iraqi economy in this manner? because he's too proud to allow inspectors to truly inspect? nope. he has a longterm vision for his leadership, and that vision is to be the next Nasser, only this time with a nuclear capability. oil or no oil, that can't be permitted. he has bought enough time. surprisingly, the bush administration is on the right side of this argument.

m©:
I agree, step on him him heavily.
(Tue Oct 22, 2002 - 9:48:37 pm)

Heruka:
yes. we have to get him out now. Or else next year he'll win the Nobel Peace Prize. It'll place him in teh same catagory with such noble people as Carter and Arrafat
(Tue Oct 22, 2002 - 10:35:10 pm)

Heruka:
Arafat. Aarafat. Airahfat.
(Tue Oct 22, 2002 - 10:41:59 pm)

Heruka:
why is that surprisingly, Murphy? I'll agree there are some things I don't like about thus administration. Although I have yet to see any factual evidence of some of the slander thrown at them. im thinging it's kostly just propaganda thrown out by the lefties to mislead the mindless droogs out there, who believe whatever the lefties tell them.

I love their foreign policy. it's great. I love it when a Prez. tells the rest of the world to basically fuck off. it drives the foreign prss mad. and gets all the idiot foreigners in a frenzy. which is what it's supposed to do I guess.

Myk Murphy:
the president has sent the europeans the right message, but with the wrong tone. the kyoto treaty was a bad treaty signed by cynical euro-politicians knowing that it couldn't be met. the US withdrawal from it was stage-managed poorly. rampant anti-americanism, based almost solely on personal dislike of bush, has begun to affect policy and politics. as the best example this year, german chancellor schroeder got cheap mileage off some anti-bush, anti-war bluster. it was cheap politics, but it was the only thing that kept him in office. germany made the wrong choice in september, and now they get to remain enslaved by their labor unions. bush could have had a christian dem chancellor and therefore a pro-business europe to work with, but that's delayed. all because of the administration's "bull in china shop" snubs toward europe and the world.

that having been said, his "new" unilateralist approach is something that europe must realize is a geopolitical necessity. funny how france had no problem when clinton bombed serbia without UN security council cover, but now they're up in arms when the US arms up for iraq. france is at risk of becoming irrelevant in world affairs forever. i'd like to know if european politicians really take themselves seriously.

I've been watching this sweet-tenderoni on the morning news lately. She's got the sexiest voice.

Heruka:
It's my understanding the European industries are all fucked up. They've tied themselves to an archaic economic structure, that there's no possible way they can compete. They're so worried about losing jobs, and therefore breaking the huge welfare system they have over there, that they're markets lack the ability to adapt and evolve. And the EU is just prolonging this problem. I don't particularly care. I hate Europeans. Mainland Europeans. Not Brits. Long range economic forecast is not good for them.
(Wed Oct 23, 2002 - 6:06:45 am)

Myk Murphy:
Good morning, socialists. Yeah, europe won't fare well until they head toward free enterprise. Spain and italy have governments on the case, but the unions are making it difficult. Last week's strike in italy was a fine example. The sentimental anti-business attitude in europe is killing them slowly. The eu rules make matters worse. European agricultural policy is awful. Setting themselves up to lose. The main reason that europe encourages the fight against gen modified foods is to protect markets.
