Myk Murphy:
greetings, folks... i'm trying out napster, too.
(Sun Jan 9, 2000 - 7:46:11 pm)

Heruka:
Oh. So that wasn't you, Decoy. And here I went off on a drunken rant for nothing. Sorry. I downloaded that napster thing. And I junked it just as quickly. There really isn't a whole lotta mp3 stuff that I want. And what I do want I can find pretty much on the musicians website. I have that Built to Spill. They were getting really good reviews. I never listen to mine thoug. Old age is pushing me away from that pop sound stuff. No-one told me Patrick O'Brian died last week. I must have missed it in the paper. Damn. He was a good writer, and his bio of Picasso is the best available. Well, I think so........ Angelas Ashes is coming to the big screen soon! Whoop! Based on Frank McCourt's first novel, AA is about growing up ion poverty stricken Ireland. A classic book, the movie should not dissapoint. I have yet to read his second novel "'Tis" yet. I'll get to it soon enough. Yes. Warm tomorrow. God bless climatic change. That is all....

Heruka:
Fuck. I can't believe the fish beat Seattle. The strangeness that plagued us during the regular season has followed.
(Sun Jan 9, 2000 - 8:15:07 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i'm a bit shocked at that development, too, H. i'm still horrified by that "lateral" thrown to give the titans an undeserved win. i watched the replay over and over, and that's a forward pass.
(Sun Jan 9, 2000 - 8:27:31 pm)

Heruka:
Yes. I agree! But there were a few important bad calls that went in the Titans favor. Then Flutie just sat on the sidelines. I'm still shocked they didn't put him in. After Johnsons sacks, I figured for sure in the second half. Oh well. Go Jags.
(Sun Jan 9, 2000 - 8:39:56 pm)

Heruka:
I am outta here.

Phil Luckett:
A controversial call by referee Phil Luckett cost the Steelers the ball to start the overtime period against Detroit, and the Lions scored on their first possession for a 19-16 victory Thursday

On Dec. 6, Luckett's crew also ruled Testaverde had scored a touchdown in the final seconds, giving the Jets a victory over Seattle. Replays showed Testaverde had been stopped short of the goal line on the fourth-down play.

John Elway completed a pass to fullback Howard Griffith, and Dolphins cornerback Terrell Buckley appeared to strip him of the ball in the first quarter. But the officials ruled it an incomplete pass. Replays appeared to show it was a completed pass followed by a fumble.

In the third quarter, another Elway pass was called an incompletion instead of a fumble even though the ball went backward when Elway was hit by linebacker Zach Thomas. Luckett was responsible for the latter two calls. "Once the passer's arm is going forward, then we have a forward pass," Luckett said. "Once it hits the ground, even if it's behind him, it's still a forward pass. Incomplete when it hits the ground." In the digest of rules, there is no rule describing Luckett's definition.

Luckett, who was involved in a botched coin toss and an incorrect touchdown call last season that helped lead to the reinstatement of instant replay, said otherwise.
"The line judge's initial ruling was that it was not a forward pass," Luckett told a pool reporter. "Taking from where the pass left the passer's hand right on that (25) yard line, the receiver catches it right there on that yard line. It did not appear to be a forward pass, therefore there is not a foul."
(Sun Jan 9, 2000 - 10:00:32 pm)

Phil Luckett:
``The player, who appeared to be reaching for the end zone pylon with the football and was subsequently pushed out by the defender at the simultaneous moment when my bookie increased the odds of the Jets reaching and winning the Super Bowl from 15-to-1 to 55-to-1, is ruled to have scored a touchdown.''
