News, as it hurtles toward you:
LONDON (Reuters) - A massive asteroid could hit Earth in just 17 years' time, destroying life as we know it, a British space expert said Wednesday. The asteroid -- the most threatening object ever detected in space -- is two km (1.2 miles) wide and apparently on a direct collision course with Earth. "Objects of this size only hit the Earth every one or two million years, so that's some comfort" said Dr. Benny Peiser, an asteroid expert at Liverpool John Moore's University in northern England. "In the worst case scenario, a disaster of this size would be global in its extent, would create a meltdown of our economic and social life, and would reduce us to dark age conditions," he told Reuters.

"The threat is very minimal," Donald Mordacious , of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, told British Broadcasting Corp. radio. "An object of this size would be expected to hit the Earth every few million years, and as we get additional data I think this threat will go away. Now if you don't mind, I have some stock piling and digging to do."

Looting at the wtc? I concur: urban legend. What loot, anyway? Here's a good legend: we tell everyone that al qaeda is behind the asteroid attack of 2019.

Those idiots at NASA on elsewhere make up these stories about meteorites hitting earth every now and then to justify them spending five bazillion dollars on experiments to see whether if goldfish fuck in space or not. And morons buy this bunk wholesale. British space expert? Yeah, I'll take that seriously.
