Detlef Sping:
No it's just clicking at the beginning, and then this voice comes out of nowhere and sings this song, accompanied by what sounds like an tuba recorded with a Senheiser microphone.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:12:12 pm)

Queenie:
Freak.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:12:36 pm)

Queenie:
What did Mrs. Dr. name her baby?
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:12:46 pm)

Detlef Sping:
Detlef.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:13:24 pm)

Queenie:
Good name for a girl.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:13:51 pm)

Detlef Sping:
It blew my mind.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:14:58 pm)

Detlef Sping:

(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:16:05 pm)

Queenie:
the trilobite wins and everybody else loses
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:16:14 pm)

Detlef Sping:
Is that voice singing supposed to be there?
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:16:41 pm)

Queenie:
of course
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:17:15 pm)

Queenie:

(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:17:22 pm)

Queenie:
he's standing in this disgusting hotel room with a goofy grin and singing to the nineteen year old runaway sexual compulsive that he's in love with.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:18:19 pm)

Queenie:
there's your context
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:18:29 pm)

Detlef Sping:
He sounds a bit like Robyn Hitchcock.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:18:49 pm)

Detlef Sping:
he's singing to a nineteen year old runaway trilobite in a disgusting hotel room with a goofy grin? that is context. Well good luck with the song Queenie, it still sounds like it has tuba on it though. Auf!
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:21:28 pm)

Queenie:
Freak.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:22:26 pm)

You guys are so obsessed. You kill me.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:37:48 pm)

Queenie:
I learned this weekend that Qwee's drummer is currently touring as drummer for Neil Finn. I had no idea. Qwee has a big part in my movie. He looked beautiful.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 5:41:25 pm)

Decoy:
I's listening to it.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 6:06:41 pm)

:
Trilobite
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 6:14:51 pm)

:

I'm listening.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 6:21:03 pm)

Gleanie:

I hear singing too. All the time.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 7:33:26 pm)

Myk Murphy:
yeah, neil finn is coming to town tomorrow night. i'd love to get over to see it, but this is a rough week. way too much stuff going on.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 7:37:38 pm)

Queenie:
Tell his drummer "hi"
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 7:55:31 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i downloaded the heavenly wav tonight. while this man should have his singing license revoked, the whole effect sounds appropriate. dig the tuba. you'll definitely need to mix/master the living hell out of that recording to get the air and energy you'll need for film. steinberg's "nuendo" is a nice tool for movie mastering. their stuff handles audio wav files nicely, and you get all that SMPTE movie synch stuff.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 9:04:55 pm)

Myk Murphy:

as you can see in this diagram, the stereo suck event (in green) should be omitted. get to work.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 9:15:10 pm)

Queenie:
Never heard of that program. Not sure what Ken uses. I should have mentioned that this was a rough mix with no eq-ing and whatnot -- totally raw, but we didn't have time to fiddle fuck around with that stuff, Ken had only about an hour to record and assemble the piece for use.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 9:22:10 pm)

Queenie:
You remember that scene in Boogie Nights when the two guys formed a band and were in the recording studio making the most gawd-awful sound? If you heard that song out of the context of the movie, you'd barf. But in context, hee-larious. You dig what I'm saying?
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 9:24:16 pm)

Myk Murphy:
ah, i see. so we're going for a bit of humor, albeit in a touching, possibly groping, sort of way. i can see how a less produced sound would fit the bill. that scene in boogie nights never fails to make me laugh until it hurts.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 10:09:29 pm)

Queenie:
Well it will be mixed and mastered and prettied up for sure, the version you heard was for lip syncing reference only. And yes, very humorous. You're grooving on the context now. I mean, the guy comes bursting into the room wearing that humongous thing on his chest and it's really very funny, but charming.
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 10:31:01 pm)

Queenie:
We were singing that boogie nights song all weekend too. "Feel feel feel feel the he-heat".
(Wed Jul 17, 2002 - 10:31:23 pm)

Queenie:
I'm still chuckling at "stereo suck event".
