Queenie:
My skin is so sensitive, I would probably break out or bleed to death through my pores or something.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:29:25 pm)
Chewing Wax:
I like them women with the hair spilling out everywhere. That's hot.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:29:36 pm)
Decoy:
Heh.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:30:10 pm)
Queenie:
Yeah, I just learned the origins of that "under god" bit, and it pretty much totally goes against that whole "seperation of church and state" thing.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:30:13 pm)
Heruka:
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:30:59 pm)
Queenie:
President Eisenhower signed the legislation inserting "under God" after the words "one nation." He wrote that "millions of our schoolchildren will daily proclaim in every city and town, every village and rural schoolhouse, the dedication of our nation and our people to the Almighty."
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:31:11 pm)
Decoy:
Separation of athiests and non-athiest is all. Christ all mighty.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:32:08 pm)
Heruka:
the seperation of church and state is a hoax queenie. it's an impossibilty.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:32:35 pm)
Mrs. Krabappel :
Class, in order to explain why your hormones will soon make you an easy target for every smooth-talking Lothario with his own car and tight jeans...I will now show a short sex-education film. Ezekiel and Ishmael, in accordance with your parents' wishes, you may step out into the hall and pray for our souls.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:32:35 pm)
Queenie:
Brilliant.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:33:44 pm)
Chewing Wax:
I'm not religious but I don't mind saying the "under God" part. Who's it hurting?
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:33:45 pm)
Decoy:
dog days • \DOG-dayz\ • (noun plural) 1 : the hot sultry period of summer between early July and early September in the northern hemisphere
2 : a period of stagnation or inactivity
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:33:47 pm)
Decoy:
I really don't think God is about religion, but that's just me.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:34:22 pm)
Chewing Wax:
Sweet
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:34:23 pm)
Queenie:
What if you don't believe in god? Yet you're expected to proclaim your devotion to him every goddamn morning? Fuck's sake.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:34:48 pm)
Chewing Wax:
What if you hate America? What then?
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:35:11 pm)
Queenie:
My god is not about religion.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:35:14 pm)
Queenie:
Goddammit.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:35:18 pm)
Queenie:
You fucker, wax.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:35:52 pm)
Queenie:
Rememeber that movie Dog Day Afternoon? Great fucking movie.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:36:12 pm)
Decoy:
If you're that sophisticated as to genuinely figure there's nothing other than humans about the universe, then it probably wouldn't bother you that much. You'd laugh it off like so much fluff.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:36:14 pm)
Chewing Wax:
Actually, the "under God" is just a modifier for the "and the nation for which it stands". You aren't proclaiming devotion to God at all. Just a nation that happens to be under him. Somehow. It doesn't even claim to know what that means.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:36:21 pm)
Heruka:
I agree Decoy. And my belief in the Christian God is strong. Church's are like pop culture for the believers. I hace nothing against them. But I think people rely on them too much. God is not a church.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:36:24 pm)
Chewing Wax:
Attica. Attica.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:36:42 pm)
Decoy:
I thought the grammar was obvious. Is that what confuses everyone?
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:37:28 pm)
Chewing Wax:
Confuses Queenie. Apparently.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:37:45 pm)
Heruka:
But I do belive the term 'spitiuality' is nothing more than a catch phrase anymore. People need to believe in something. Some peoples standards are just lower. That's all.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:38:30 pm)
Chewing Wax:
I'm not clear on what spirituality is supposed to mean.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:39:01 pm)
Queenie:
But now you know for certain its origin and purpose: to "daily proclaim... the dedication of our nation and our people to the Almighty". Doesn't seem very ambiguous to me.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:39:03 pm)
Decoy:
Where Pacino starts the crowd chanting Attica Attica, I always thought was stilted and awkward writing. I mean, who does that? Its so stupid. Like, "I'll get the crowd to hate the cops by my chanting about Attica?" Jeez.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:39:09 pm)
Chewing Wax:
Attica. Attica. Say it. It's catchy.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:39:48 pm)
bela:
I've said it before, but Tom saw the filming of that movie in Brooklyn when he was a kid. I think thats pretty cool.
(Wed Jun 26, 2002 - 3:41:02 pm)
Heruka:
people confuse spirituality with feelings. I think they think they sound smarter or more in touch by using it. I was watching HGTV, and this woman said the colors of her living room bring out her spirituality. I had to laugh.
