Detlef Sping:
great
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:21:08 pm)
Queenie:
Did you know that Leon Theremin was abducted by the KGB and forced to make surveillance devices for Stalin against his will for years?
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:21:46 pm)
bela:
Tom is an idiot. He also said he can't wait until ARmen gets famous because then he can hang out with him and abuse him in front of all his famous friends.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:22:00 pm)
Queenie:
He was brought back to America in 1991 as an old man in his nineties and did his narcoleptic-like wandering for two years before dying at the age of... uh... I forget... 97?
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:22:52 pm)
Detlef Sping:
Tom is great
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:22:57 pm)
Detlef Sping:
98
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:23:21 pm)
bela:
I think Armen is going to have his 15 minutes and then some. He'll be on Letterman soon, I know it. Hes already making great money. That gig at Starlight lounge is packed and he makes like $400 a gig. That is good, but he's broke so its good for him. Hes an idiot.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:23:28 pm)
Queenie:
I hope not.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:23:44 pm)
Decoy:
$400?
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:24:27 pm)
Queenie:
Proof that you have to move fast with your ideas before someone else thinks of it first.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:24:35 pm)
Detlef Sping:
Tom is a great idiot
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:24:42 pm)
Decoy:
Does he get the bar, too? That's peanuts.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:24:51 pm)
bela:
No shit, but theremin is not easy to play. That girl that plays violin on our album plays theremin too. You snooze you lose.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:25:09 pm)
Queenie:
Are you kidding? For one guy, that's great.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:25:10 pm)
bela:
Thats pretty good if you ask me.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:25:34 pm)
Detlef Sping:
$400? I make more from a flattened silver squirrel.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:26:04 pm)
Chewing Wax:
Bobby Previt had a theramin in his big band when I saw him. And Laurie Anderson has been playing one for years.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:26:08 pm)
bela:
Tom abuses Armen. Armen loves it. He calls him Uncle Tom.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:26:10 pm)
Detlef Sping:
And I have a bag of them.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:26:32 pm)
Decoy:
$600-$800 was standard in Rochester back in my day. Some regular house bands bands would get $1200 a show.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:26:38 pm)
Chewing Wax:
And Sping has a bag of them
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:26:45 pm)
Decoy:
YEARS!
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:26:51 pm)
Chewing Wax:
Yeh, but Arman is a freak.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:26:58 pm)
Detlef Sping:
flattened silver squirrels.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:27:34 pm)
bela:
You don't know what you're talking about Decoy. And thats 800$ split between what, 4 people?
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:27:54 pm)
Queenie:
I had no idea that the theremin was so hip right now. This would be a really good time for this story, I think. The theremin is really more of a motif than anything else in the story, but if people are digging that kind of weirdo scifi-lounge sound right now, it would be a good time for me to jump on it.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:27:54 pm)
Decoy:
Freaks love the Tom treatment, they keep coming back. Peculiar.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:27:56 pm)
Queenie:
Laurie Anderson, you say...
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:28:51 pm)
Detlef Sping:
Tom has been great for years.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:29:40 pm)
Decoy:
It depended on the act, the price was usually consistent. No wonder my friend's bar went out of business; maybe it wasn't all my free drinks after all.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:29:45 pm)
Russel:
I've been playing the theramin-like for years.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:30:11 pm)
Decoy:
He's got one under his hat, for sure.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:30:29 pm)
Decoy:
Yes, its a Theremin nostalgia cycle peak. This summer would just nail it.
(Wed Jun 19, 2002 - 4:31:31 pm)
