I pulled something very unpleasant out of a external pipe in my building this evening. A sorry looking flower/weed thing was poking out of the pipe and I thought I'd remove it. So I pulled the head of the flower, and I pulled it, and I pulled it and a long thin root came trailing out and then a thick, slimy, ribbon sized root emerged, which was about six inches long and then then thin root reappeared. I dropped it, horrified. And then some hot air blew out from the pipe above my head, so I just ran inside the building.
