Queenie:
"Today FM is Ireland's biggest Independent Radio Station. Our format is lively, Bright and Fun"
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:24:05 pm)

Queenie:
It's just streaming live radio, at http://www.todayfm.com/
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:24:23 pm)

Chewing Wax:
Leprechaun music?
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:25:20 pm)

Queenie:
I don't know, it's pretty rawking what they're playing now. Grant's interview on swedish radio was pretty priceless.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:25:50 pm)

Queenie:
Sorry for using 'pretty' twice. Lazy.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:26:03 pm)

Chewing Wax:
Swedish radio?
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:26:46 pm)

Chewing Wax:
There. I fixed the time stamp to EDT. It was bugging me.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:27:03 pm)

Heruka:
I'm looking at an SSB system or HAM. I really don't want to have to take a test or anything. Ack.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:27:22 pm)

Chewing Wax:
HAM? For the boat trip?
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:27:53 pm)

Queenie:
Yeah the swedish radio... fucking hilarious. Nick Cave impressions were involved.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:28:19 pm)

Queenie:
Man... Irish brogue is just beautiful to listen to.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:28:59 pm)

Heruka:
Yes. They recommend it, but it's so expensive, do I really need to shell out that much time, cost and effort for a 9 month love cruise? SSB I can understand, I can send email via SSB, but HAM, too much...
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:29:38 pm)

Chewing Wax:
And those HAM people are so geeky
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:30:22 pm)

bela:
Aw, I just found out someone from CT is taking Curley. Wish him well everyone.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:30:53 pm)

Heruka:
I was also thinking sattelite phone. Big initial investment, and 41.30 a minute after that. Interesting.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:31:57 pm)

Chewing Wax:
Good luck Curley.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:32:12 pm)

Queenie:
My brother and dad are both big HAM geeks. Have been since I was little. It's funny when they get together and geek out all over the place about it.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:32:38 pm)

Heruka:
CT and their pooch killing suv's? Or is that Volvo territory?
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:32:42 pm)

bela:
CT? I don't really know, both I guess. But Hartford is supposed to be really bad.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:33:28 pm)

Chewing Wax:
It isn't just me right? They're really geeky about it right?
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:34:02 pm)

Heruka:
There's a hit of a difference being HAM operators in America, and having one out in the midle of no-where. It can actually be our only contact with the outside world for weeks at a time. This trip is going to cost huge amounts of money. HUGE amounts.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:34:44 pm)

Chewing Wax:
Satelite phone would be so cool though.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:34:46 pm)

bela:
What is HAM?
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:34:50 pm)

Chewing Wax:
You're right. On a boat it has purpose.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:35:08 pm)

Chewing Wax:
It's a radio with broadcasts in a frequency with huge range, but you have to have a license to use the frequencies.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:35:48 pm)

Chewing Wax:
You can talk to people all over the world on your HAM radio. And you say, "I have a ham radio" to anyone who is listening.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:36:24 pm)

Chewing Wax:
It's also a delicious pork product
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:37:46 pm)

Chewing Wax:

This pretty much sums it up
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:38:44 pm)

bela:
Oh, I see.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:38:58 pm)

Queenie:
They are perhaps the most insanely geeky individuals on the planet, second only to maybe those people who wear Star Trek uniforms to work and make others call them "Commander".
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:39:08 pm)

Chewing Wax:
They do stuff like have races to see how many different cities they get in contact with. Listen for the space station as it beeps overhead. They constantly try to get Britney Spears to answer.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:39:36 pm)

bela:
Commander? Last night Star Trek was on and I don't really get it. Is that supposed to be the future? Are they American? Where do they eat?
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:39:57 pm)

Heruka:
They're great for emergencies and weather forecasts out in the ocean. In another year and a half, who knows what'll change though. I could almost log onto the Lounge from 1500 miles west of Panama. That would be cool, but a bit cheesy.
(Thu Apr 11, 2002 - 2:40:20 pm)
