Yeah, button or diatonic tuba. Thats what that guy plays. Yeah, walter can play any style really but its not that big a deal. I can play a little of this, a little of that. I mean, I have a little Beatles in my reportoire, some jewish dances, some cojunto - its not hard, thats the thing about playing the tuba.

Queenie:
Hey does anyone remember that old cartoon from when we were kids with the dad quail and the daughter quail, and they go out looking for worms and the daughter keeps saying "I wanna sock 'em!" and then he finally lets her go after the worm and she says, in this horrible high-pitched whiny voice, "I can't sock 'em! He looks like Frankie Sinatra!" I haven't seen that cartoon in like 20 years. I'd give anything to see it again.
(Wed Apr 10, 2002 - 3:57:00 pm)

Queenie:
A couple years ago I saw my absolute favorite old cartoon on Cartoon Network. Again, I hadn't seen it in like 20 years. I bawled like a baby when I saw it again.

My very favorite one was when the big burly dog found a kitten and fell in love with it, and he cried and cried because he thought it had gotten baked into a cookie. Sniff. So sweet!

bela:
I don't remember that one but old cartoons are much more sophisticated than they are now, all the political and cultural references that a child wouldn't really understand. Its interesting though. REally old ones.
(Wed Apr 10, 2002 - 4:10:35 pm)

Queenie:
The old ones made references to wars and Hitler and so forth too. And lots of Frank Sinatra references, I've noticed. Which was the style at the time.

Queenie:
I've even seen one where Daffy ducks rides around on the shoulders of this big Aunt Jemima looking woman, with the big lips and kerchief and everything, slapping her with a whip like she was a horse, and going "woo hoo woo hoo!"

bela's friend wants to do it as a thing between jobs? i don't think that the foreign service works that way. actually, they say it almost always sucks before it's good. you get to stamp visas and file papers in some shitty part of the world. somehow, the newbies don't get assignments like london or paris on the first try.
(Wed Apr 10, 2002 - 5:16:03 pm)

Heruka:
There's a discussion in todays paper about jobs with the FBI. Apparently, they're hiring like crazy. Think I'll send them my rezooommay. Do you have to take any type of psychological testing before you're hired? I generally don't do well on those things.

My reo speedwagon pictures are a riot! can't seem to find the styx roll, though. Too bad, they had quite the cheesy set-up.

Myk, I haven't changed my mind about my Frank. And I've got the restraining orders to prove it. Oh yes... he will be mine...
