Balázs Bernát:

I am not dead and that's for the sure of it. It's the jews listening in on my muscle car engine noises. I have to be keeping a lowish profile and adjust my mirrors in a cassual type of way. Spain is still in the plans but this lake house took much longer than I was to be expecting!

Myk Murphy:
earlier, queenie posted something from another source, having to do with an analogy about a millionaire building a home in Watts or some other depressed neighborhood. it actually makes the point for israel, rather than for the rights of the palestinians. the israelis brought democracy with them when the zionist movement began, enabled by the balfour amendment of the 1920s (don't be misled by the 1948 red herring of the independent state). in short, with the british maintaining control beforehand, it's not like the rise of israeli power removed some fabled self-governance worth retaining. in the modern age, 80 years on, the anti-israel crowd subtly bases its argument on a lack of legitimacy for the state of israel. the israelis have asked for state recognition and little else, and really offered up the farm in Oslo back in '99. the palestinians have yet to make the transition from insurgent/refugee to citizen of a new state, since they consider any power consolidation to be a means toward an end involving israel's destruction. if the israelis had never made significant concessions, i could possibly understand this animosity.
israeli actions now are harsh, but it hasn't taken a genius to figure out that arafat never wanted peace. sure, sharon is an ass and an example of israeli's worst traits, but his actions are justified. clearly, the opposition to israel is either hate-based (toward its very existence) or poorly informed.
(Tue Apr 9, 2002 - 6:20:34 pm)

Decoy:
Its true.
