Decoy:
Sidney Portier comment makes you think about how many people were "before their time" in that sense. Its a little disturbing.

bela:
At one time, NYC was the film capital before it moved to California. What was a NY advert? The film?

bela:

Decoy:
My first impression on the Nora Ephron piece was, and maybe it was the intro, that they wanted to remind people that NYC is a great place to make a movie and not to send all the work to New Zealand. Just an impression.
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 3:44:46 pm)
Heruka:
Or Vancouver.
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 3:45:47 pm)
Chewing Wax:
That Michael J. Fox movie "The Frighteners" was a Peter Jackson movie made in New Zealand. You'd never know. It looks like Northern California. That's a great movie. I think.
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 3:46:23 pm)
Heruka:
But yeah, I figured Woody was there to be a spokesperson for NY also. Help, bring us movies....
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 3:46:34 pm)
bela:
The people making movies in NY, and the movies featured in the piece are die hard New Yorkers who would never try to fool people with a Toronto background claiming its New York . I think it was more of a tribute than an advertisement.
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 3:51:10 pm)
Chewing Wax:
My Blue Heaven was Martin's last great movie.

(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 3:55:14 pm)
Chewing Wax:
Come on. Even the poster makes you crack up.
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 3:58:14 pm)

That picture is funny. I had no idea that was Eddie Murphy.
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 4:00:08 pm)
Queenie:
Did you guys think Gwyneth Paltrow's boobs looked awful or not last night?
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 4:26:43 pm)
Chewing Wax:
I didn't see any of that. But I have seen Shakespeare in Love. And I'll ask, what boobs?
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 4:29:39 pm)
bela:
What, the top of her dress was transparent?
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 4:34:24 pm)
:
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 4:35:43 pm)
bela:
No nipples? I like the style a lot, but I wouldn't be caught dead in a transparent tank top. I like the criss cross thing down the middle.
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 4:37:12 pm)
Queenie:
When she was standing at the podium and you're seeing her from straight-on, it was a very unflattering gown. It flattened her boobs down to look like she'd breast-fed eight kids or something, like floppy little pancakes.
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 4:39:51 pm)
bela:
No bag?
(Mon Mar 25, 2002 - 4:40:13 pm)
