Decoy:
I had so many majors, I really tried to get my money's worth. And at 15 bucks for a eighth it was pretty hard.

Queenie:
Campbell seemed to have been able to internalize classic storytelling in ways most people can't, then could turn around and articulate it a so clearly that anyone could understand.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:16:50 pm)

Queenie:
I went to community college for two terms. Then they booted me when my student aid dried up. Bastards.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:17:19 pm)

Queenie:
How are english and arts the same thing? One involves a paintbrush, the other involves reading.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:17:54 pm)

Decoy:
Oh come on, seriously?
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:18:59 pm)

Queenie:
What? Which? How have I offended THIS time?

I think that was directed at Heruka, but I'm not sure.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:20:26 pm)

Heruka:
But they both involve students who can't comprehend the maths, or physics, or anything worthwhile. Basically, they're magnets for a certain type student.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:20:36 pm)

Decoy:
Math and science and theology, etc are the same too, if you think about it. Human archetypal structures are cast over all our experience.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:20:52 pm)

Heruka:
math and theology the same thing? that's silly.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:22:01 pm)

Queenie:
There's a real romance to math and numbers.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:22:50 pm)

Decoy:
I was a shitty math major until I was a good english major, then I learned linear algebra easily. The problem with science is that they don't teach you how to think.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:22:59 pm)

Queenie:
GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - "Unable to persuade a school district to drop a mascot name that offends them, some American Indian students at the University of Northern Colorado have named their intramural basketball team "the Fighting Whities."
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:23:01 pm)

Queenie:
That was a damned sexy thing to say, Decoy.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:23:25 pm)

Decoy:
Romance? What?
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:23:49 pm)

Queenie:
Right.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:24:01 pm)

Queenie:
Isn't "Fighting Whities" the name of Myk's band?
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:24:15 pm)

Heruka:
I love math, it's the discovery that's thrilling. Math is logic.

James Madison

Decoy:
I'll try to up it. The problem with science majors is that they teach you to fit into the industrial-military complex as a mindless unthinking cog. The rest stay home and make more soldiers.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:27:00 pm)

Queenie:
Math is more than logic. Math is logic and romance.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:27:02 pm)

Queenie:
Oooooooohhhhhh.....
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:27:20 pm)

(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:28:05 pm)

Queenie:
What about environmental majors? You know, the tree huggers?
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:28:34 pm)

Decoy:
Time to go back to work. I ordered a pool this weekend ... gotta make some money.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:28:54 pm)

Decoy:

Swimming pool at Decoys.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:30:18 pm)

Chewing Wax:
This, as they say, is going to be great.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:30:35 pm)

Queenie:
It's like the ACLU at guantanamo bay. Yeah, it's annoying, but the fact is -- if they weren't watching out for the safety of those guys, no one would and really awfully, shameful things could potentially happen. The same is true for environmentalists and trees. Someone's got to champion their cause.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:32:19 pm)

Heruka:
the problem with non science majors is that they allow people to think that they're equal to science majors. In the engineering program, it was popular to take literature or an extra english course as an easy way to beef up your gpa. even though we've entered an era where a dancer is considered the equivilant as an engineer, the real world will say otherwise. humanity isn't driven by the arts. the arts are disposable. it's engineering and inventions that have always, and will always drive humanity to a destination. the country that leads in the sciences will always be the country that's leading the world.
(Mon Mar 11, 2002 - 4:32:32 pm)

Queenie:
