Queenie:
I just got a second bathroom put into the trailer. What do you think?
(Sat Feb 23, 2002 - 9:06:44 pm)
Queenie:
I processed and printed that picture with my own two hands. I had never done that before. It was perhaps the single coolest thing EVER.
(Sat Feb 23, 2002 - 9:09:16 pm)
Decoy:
Is that a fine grane push? Tri-X, perhaps? Or another POlaroid?
(Sat Feb 23, 2002 - 9:31:32 pm)
Decoy:
Grain, of course.
(Sat Feb 23, 2002 - 9:39:00 pm)
Queenie:
I don't know what "fine grain push" means.. I'm a total hack when it comes to that stuff. My brother walked me through the whole process. That's actually a blow up of a contact sheet, underexposed in the printing. And the negatives had been laying around on a table for a week, getting dusty and covered with shmutz. I did make a couple of clean, lovely 8 x 10s. Is there anything cooler than making a picture big? I think not!
(Sat Feb 23, 2002 - 9:44:56 pm)
Queenie:
And we were using paper with an expiration date of march, 1975.
(Sat Feb 23, 2002 - 9:45:25 pm)
Decoy:
Schmutz. Just a suggestion, remove the toilet. We had that discussion before with bela, in my opinion, printing is the real art in photography.

I have lots of paper and chems that old. Keep them in the freezer, they last forever.

I agreed to Trading Spaces on TLC. At first I thought it would be stupid, but then it turned out to be about human misery so it wasn't that bad.

Chewing Wax:

I love Trading Spaces. One of my favorite shows. I miss cable.

Printing is the real art of photography? Hm. Well, I think it depends. I mean, I take pictures for two very different reasons. One reason is to capture a moment, exactly as it, with as little artistic interpretation as possible. The more journalistic stuff is like that. In that case, composition is the most important thing. The other purpose for a picture is to create a way for people to see things differently, through my eyes... in which case the mechanicals of the lighting, camera and the printing are manipulated to create this result. But overall, as someone who gets off on portraiture more than anything else, for me the heart will always be in the composition and the spirit of the person whom I am photographing.

Heruka:
Posing is the real art of photography. The camera people are just there. Sure they take the picture, but they're taking a pic of something other than them taking a picture. It isn't like painting. Even I can take a picture with a camera. Not that I have one a camera. GOD knows a camera would be too much for me to ask for in this life..... Is this not a cool boat?

Trading Soaces is a girls show.
(Sun Feb 24, 2002 - 3:56:48 am)
Queenie:
Is a photographer really an artist at all, or just someone who understand how a camera and lighting works enough to point their camera at something and capture a moment? Who knows.
(Sun Feb 24, 2002 - 4:45:35 am)
Chewing Wax:
It is a girls show. Sometimes you have to compromise. But then the misery.

Sleepy:
Does this mean that everyone at Snappy Snaps is an artist?
(Sun Feb 24, 2002 - 12:42:01 pm)
Sleepy:
Snappy Snaps. What a terrible name. Could they not have come up with anything else?
(Sun Feb 24, 2002 - 12:42:29 pm)
Sleepy:
Then again, maybe it's crapness makes it brilliant.

The V & A thing was, to be generous, interesting. They took ages to set the 'balcony'(?!) up for the Soft Boys, so they only played for about twenty minutes. The beautiful crowd (Soft Boys fans and everyone over 20 excluded from this description) had to crane their slender swan-like necks to look up from the entrance auditorium towards the band. The sound wasn't very good either. Nice location though. Allez-oop.

So I was out walking on this extraordinarily beautiful day, and looked down and saw a tiny little button pin lying face down on the sidewalk. I picked it up, and it had a little sock monkey face and the caption read, "I fling poo". The things you can find.

Chewing Wax:
Here he is
(Sun Feb 24, 2002 - 2:44:28 pm)
