Chewing Wax:
Anyhow, sorry.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:08:47 pm)

Queenie:
This time yesterday it was just about pants dropping. Sort of funny, really. But then it turned into something else, something too unpleasant to speak about here. Had I known how it was going to turn out, I wouldn't have said a thing.

bela:
Theres always one kid like that! Its nuts. I don't know, I would call the parents, whats the worst that can happen?
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:10:13 pm)

Chewing Wax:
Well then I'm sorry.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:10:49 pm)

Heruka:
That book looks boring. Nothing but a bunch of ego filling letters, probably lies. On the line of Kerouac who just sucked.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:11:21 pm)

Queenie:
I've talked to them before, they're nice people. I'm not afraid to call them or anything. I want to handle it in a grown up and responsible way. But I sure as fuck don't want that kid coming around anymore.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:11:28 pm)

bela:
Tough bitch school yes.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:11:57 pm)

Queenie:
Don't go knocking the Dr.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:12:04 pm)

Queenie:
You say "ego filling letters" like it's a bad thing
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:12:19 pm)

Queenie:
Though I'm not 100% sure what "ego filling" means.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:12:35 pm)

Chewing Wax:
If you enjoy Thompson, it's a great book.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:13:34 pm)

Queenie:
I tried to read "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail" once but it was just too difficult to understand. Having been written from a journalistic viewpoint, it was about events that were occurring at the time. I was too young back then to keep up with politics, so reading it after the fact was impossible, because there's no historical reference - it was just commentary on what was happening right then. But I don't remember that time. So I never finished the book.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:19:44 pm)

Chewing Wax:
You might be confused by the letter then too, since they start in the 50's.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:21:36 pm)

Queenie:
Is it a sort of running commentary on political shit that was happening at the time? Cause I certainly would not be able to keep up.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:22:46 pm)

Chewing Wax:
More about what was happening in his life. But there's a lot of journalism when he goes to South America. Probably not for you.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:23:28 pm)

Heruka:
Now here's a book worth reading

(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:23:34 pm)

Chewing Wax:
That's short. And the sharks eat the fish. It's sad.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:24:01 pm)

Heruka:
Yes, it's an evenings read. But a lifetime of enjoyment. I've read it probably half a dozen times. I'm a Hemingway nut. Hemingway and Steinbeck are my faves.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:25:57 pm)

Heruka:
The guy who the book was based on recently. No more excursions to Cuba to visit him. Which is what all the serious offshore fishermen did.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:28:21 pm)

Chewing Wax:
I'm reading the new Bradbury book.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:28:51 pm)

Queenie:
I don't mind journalistic writing. But if it's something like the campaign book, where he writes from the viewpoint of assuming that everyone knows what he's talking about, then I can't follow, because I have no idea what he's talking about.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:29:41 pm)

Heruka:
recently died.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:30:30 pm)

Chewing Wax:
Actually, it's very well annotated, come to think of it. Obscure references are explained in footnotes.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:30:43 pm)

Queenie:
Then I wanna read it.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:31:26 pm)

Chewing Wax:
I don't think too many readers recollect the politics of early 1960s South America.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:31:31 pm)

bela:
For sure. It took me 3 months to finish Hannibal. Pathetic, I know but I'm a very on the go type of girl.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:32:47 pm)

Heruka:
I hated Hannibal. Strangely, I read the book after I watched the movie, and I didn't like the movie.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:34:31 pm)

Heruka:
The silence of the lambs. That's it.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:35:19 pm)

Heruka:
Hmmm. I tend to rad things I don't like. I've read several Clancy books, but I don't really the subject matter. Hmmm,
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:38:17 pm)

Chewing Wax:
And I'm reading The Fellowship of the Ring. I hate when I have more than one book going at a time. Drives me insane.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:39:28 pm)

bela:
There are books everywhere here so I just pick something up from here - I read this great book from here called "Plainsong" by this author Kent Haruf. It was so good.
(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:45:52 pm)

bela:

(Thu Feb 21, 2002 - 4:47:57 pm)

Chewing Wax:
Is it about singing?
