Sleepy:
Rennie's much nicer in the flesh and very funny.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:34:55 pm)

Myk Murphy:
well, that's a relief. i couldn't bear seeing you in the movie theater with your raincoat on, avoiding eye contact with the other cinema patrons. that simply would not do. so have you decided where your career path will take you? are you still enjoying your time off?
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:36:00 pm)

Myk Murphy:
which one is rennie? that's a male name, i suppose.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:36:31 pm)

Sleepy:
Rennie is the woman!
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:36:51 pm)

Myk Murphy:
oh, i see. that makes the bela/rennie comparison make a bit more sense. does rennie have a dog with sweaters and coats? i think not.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:38:13 pm)

Sleepy:
I'm still enjoying my time off but I am looking around for jobs. So far I've seen nothing I like. It's all horrible. I'm tempted to become a barista.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:38:35 pm)

Sleepy:
That Rennie is a strange woman. She probably has a cat with sweaters and coats.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:39:03 pm)

Myk Murphy:
have you considered a life of crime? you appear sufficiently innocent to keep law enforcement authorities off your trail for a lengthy time period.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:40:37 pm)

Sleepy:
I couldn't do that. The guilt would be insurmountable.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:42:06 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i think you could surmount it. still, you would need cushca's help. she has made it abundantly clear that she's looking for new employment.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:44:17 pm)

Sleepy:
She is? I thought she liked her job. Why didn't she tell me? Why? Why?
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:45:08 pm)

Myk Murphy:
heh heh, you know better. have you looked at jobs here in the states? although unemployment has ticked up, there are possibilities. i saw pearl jam's "alive" video today on mtv2 and thought of you and cushca. especially cushca.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:47:08 pm)

Sleepy:
Last year we saw a job advertised in Seattle working at a private detective's agency. The ad said "English accent an advantage".
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:48:11 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i see that january 4th was michael stipe's birthday. he's 42, apparently. what did you get him this year? you are kidding about the "english accent" ad, right?
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:51:54 pm)

Sleepy:
That was a real job ad. I got Michael a Crocodile Cafe t-shirt.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:53:02 pm)

Myk Murphy:
a thoughtful and thought-provoking gift. i'm highly disturbed by that ad. i'll apply, but the only accent i can do all day is austin powers. yeah, baby! speaking of shirts, i was pleased to see that bela's drummer was sporting a grant lee phillips shirt. it's that picture from the front cover of "mobilize" with the napoleon outfit. the drummer only had 2 brush-sticks and a snare drum. still, it was appropriate.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:55:46 pm)

Sleepy:
Queenie will be livid. About the t-shirt, not the drummer's brush-sticks and snare drum.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:56:54 pm)

Sleepy:
So when is your band playing in New York?
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:59:51 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i'm quite sure that's what it was, but it was a darker shirt, so i can't be certain. a double-bass, an tuba, daria playing what she called a "baritone ukelele" (i had no idea there were different sizes), a snare drum, and a very pleasant old gretsch semi-hollow 6 string. the sound really wasn't bad, considering the venue.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 2:59:56 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i joked with bela about her getting us a nyc gig. honestly, i'm so psyched about our recording success that i'm not thinking about playing live. we've become quite the studio band! ha!
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 3:01:41 pm)

Myk Murphy:
today is syd barrett's birthday! he's 56 years old. an online guitar store sends me email with musician birthdays on it. i don't go looking for this sort of info.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 3:04:29 pm)

Sleepy:
I'm still composing songs in my head and playing air folk guitar. Unfortunately the air capo keeps falling off.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 3:05:21 pm)

Sleepy:
Happy Birthday to Syd.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 3:05:59 pm)

Myk Murphy:
heh heh, have you ever tried playing a more physical sort of guitar? the kind that gives you blisters? i think it would suit you. perhaps it would be a good career change, and you can even keep your english accent.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 3:06:52 pm)

Sleepy:
I could be a Kate Bush for the 2000's. I must start crocheting an outfit immediately.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 3:08:45 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i just saw a commercial advertising an upcoming allie mcbeal show guest starring mariah carey. i'm surprised that the warning signs of the apocalypse would be so easy to detect.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 3:09:01 pm)

Sleepy:
Oh my. Has Vonda Shepherd been locked in the cellar?
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 3:10:00 pm)

Myk Murphy:
i'm not sure we needed a kate bush for the 80s. that may sound mean, but that's because it is mean. i never really did think much of her. i hear that it's mutual: her opinion of me was one of indifference, at best.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 3:10:13 pm)

Sleepy:
Gasp.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 3:10:52 pm)

Sleepy:
You young'uns have no taste at all.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 3:11:34 pm)

Myk Murphy:
she and bob downey jr are busy doing lines with aaron sorkin. no time for tv stuff.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 3:11:36 pm)

Myk Murphy:
kids today.
(Sun Jan 6, 2002 - 3:12:02 pm)

Sleepy:
The plot was getting confused on the last series here. One minute Bob is staying for ever. Next minute he runs away and leaves a note. Shame. He was the only mildly interesting thing about the programme in this series.
