Sleepy:
I was wondering why commuters were looking strangely at me this evening, but then I remembered that I was carrying a bag with a huge picture of an eye on it and there was a plastic trident sticking out of the top.

Memo from Osama:
From: Bin Laden, Osama
Sent: Monday, November 19, 2001 8:17 AM
To: Cavemates
Subject: The Cave

Hi guys.

We've all been putting in long hours but we've really come together as a group and I love that. Big thanks to Omar for putting up the poster that says "There is no I in team" as well as the one that says "Hang In There, Baby." That cat is hilarious. However, while we are fighting a jihad, we can't forget to take care of the cave. And frankly I have a few concerns.

First of all, while it's good to be concerned about cruise missiles, we should be even more concerned about the scorpions in our cave. Hey, you don't want to be stung and neither do I, so we need to sweep the cave daily. I've posted a sign-up sheet near the main cave opening.

Second, it's not often I make a video address but when I do, I'm trying to scare the most powerful country on earth, okay? That means that while we're taping, please do not ride your razor scooter in the background. Just while we're taping. Thanks.

Third point, and this is a touchy one. As you know, by edict, we're not supposed to shave our beards. But I need everyone to just think hygiene, especially after mealtime. We're all in this together.

Fourth: food. I bought a box of Cheez-Its recently, clearly wrote "Osama" on the front, and put it on the top shelf. Today, my Cheez-Its were gone. Consideration. That's all I'm saying. Finally, we've heard that there may be American soldiers in disguise trying to infiltrate our ranks. I want to set up patrols to look for them. First patrol will be Omar, Muhammed, Abdul, Akbar, and Richard.

Love you lots.

-Osama

Heruka:
It's bloody freezing cold outside this evening. Even my toupee is shivering.

Myk Murphy:
that was very witty. the last bit about "richard" made me laugh. in response to queenie's comments that she had reviewed the sept 11th message board activities, i decided to give it a look, too. i hadn't seen the blow by blow account of that morning, since i had last posted something about 10 minutes before the attacks began, and almost all mobile phones went out within the hour, due to the pentagon attack. getting my wife and i safely out of there became job 1, obviously. when i got home, i was happy to simply check in with you and keep up with current events as they happened. the 9/11 board archive was difficult to read, as there are many photo links, but it is compelling. the fear, the anger, all that... it's interesting to think how much those emotions really haven't changed for many of us. i don't know if orange still espouses the "consider their position" neo-pacifism angle, but my positions have yet to shift. i hope this isn't out of stubborness... i think it has much more to do with a keen understanding of the full threat. theocratic governments are a problem; theocratic governments that are anti-western, anti-modernization, and (worst of all) anti-pluralistic have gone from "inconvenient" to "dangerous" and should be dealt with as such. the $64,000 question is: will the world, the US gov't, or the US public shy away from further intervention in this part of the world? the world leaders have been wobbly from the start, although some of the populaces have been resolutely with us (see France). within the US gov't, the fissures of opinion are somewhat visible, with some saying that we take the show on the road to iraq. if actual war does not occur, you can count on the CIA taking a pot shot at saddam sooner or later. orange alluded to the excessive actions of the CIA, although he should keep in mind that their actions have been largely curtailed since 1976 or so. no more. his worst nightmare, of an intelligence branch with bottomless resources, should become a reality within the next couple of years. to this i say: go get 'em, boys. this brings me to the US public... not likely to be happy until all potential foes are either (a) dead, or (b) dancing to awful american pop music as a result of a successful propaganda media campaign. to cite orange again, as he makes a convenient foil, his oversimplification of american policy provides the answer: does the US gov't really think that a non-american approach has to be wrong? well, no, the US tried to lead by example, encouraging trade with closed societies in order to open them to new ideas. now that these closed societies are known to harbor real danger, our laudable tolerance is stretched thin. we must no longer confuse tolerance with ignorance of a threat. (please note that i reference orange's comments for discussion purposes, and not to stoke flames. i believe many of his arguments from 9/11 or 9/12 were incorrect, but many respected analysts concur with his positions, so it cannot be said that it is an aberrant view.)
(Mon Nov 19, 2001 - 11:44:53 pm)

Heruka:
Yes. That's what I've been saying all along. On that day, had orange been within driving distance of Decoy, I fear one wouyld have been dead and the other would be sitting in prison. Decoy seemed genuinely angry. Sadly, alot pf people have oranges views. It's a very politically correct and socialistic view. My bros neighbors, the husband is from Morocco, has taught their kids that the attack was Bush's fault. Which is, of course, erronous. When the big war DOES break out, how many in the U.S.A will take up arms against us. He would, and I suspect most Arabs would and alot of others if the extreme left-winger corner will happily join them. The "Blame America" mentality that exists. Ah, lack of responsibilty. Looking for outside forces to justify your behaviour. Turning violent murderer into victims.Watever. It's on its way, spacecats.

Heruka:
You see, Ameria has done more to promote human rights than any other courty, organizatiom in human history. We can't be all bad. So to those that say America is treponsible. I say, fuckoffanddie. Move to Iraq. Look at Cincinatti. They had the shooting everyone complained said it was racial. Since then the police have stopped persuing blacks like they used to, and shootings went up 60%. I mean, the media and the admonistration has been ranting that Islam isa religion of peace. It isn't. We're dealing with a religion that states "a sword must be driven through the hearts of all non-believers". That's not an exact quote, but prwetty close. Almost exact. I'll admit, there are probably those Arabs that are non-religious, but they're in the minority. Again, it's a percentage thing. Like profiling. One thing I've figured out no-one knows anything at all. Everyone has their opinion on what's going to happen and what this means. And every view is different. Pesonally, when the big war does break out. I don't think Europe will be on our side. England will, Ireland will. But the rest I highly doubt. Mainland Europe still hates us, the same way they did Sept. 10th. But who knows? Things change so fast internationally. OIt;s insane I tells ya. Labatt Blue tastes strangely like Bush Light. I'm down to 4 beers, I should finish them off.

Heruka:
I mean, everyone claims that America is racist against the rest of the world,, meanwhile inhalf of these countries, couyld Amercans mve there and try to settle in a normal neighborhood withput bieng hated? Hell no, in most of thses dumps, we would simply be shot and done away with. Except Asia. Asia is very inclined to Amercica. I dunno why, but they are. Vietnamese were the only immigrant group that didn't set up sub-cultures when they first arrived, they blended in immediately. Back in teh '70s. It was only a few years after that they began to m9igrate to places like Texas and elsewhere. But i'm sure you all knew that. No law school for me. I'll go back for my MBA in mechanical, but that's it. I just wanbt to go sailing.
(Tue Nov 20, 2001 - 2:56:33 am)

Heruka:
That Asia thing is my opionion. Just from what I've been taught and read about them.

Heruka:
My grandfathers (on my fathers side) is still standing somewhat. Or so I've been told. I'm going to track it down and try to restore it. What llumber is still salvagable. That's the thing. The west coast has sio little history, while the east coast is where everything happens. The migration west could represent a breaking of the old America. Subliminallty I mean. Like starting a new life. That's why U.K. or Ireland would be so cool. Walking past those old buildings on a dailey basis would be very condusive to thought. One of the rugs in the house that I rent dates back to the early 70's. It's something. And what's the deal with immigration over there? It would be easier to just eneter the country illegally, than leagally it seems. There's a website with these things on it.
(Tue Nov 20, 2001 - 3:03:01 am)

Heruka:
His barn. The first Wlker(in our family) to enetr America, and his cabin is still standing. I think it was used for hunting.
(Tue Nov 20, 2001 - 3:04:27 am)

Heruka:
I don't hate immigrants. I don't even dislikr the rotten ones. Some Irish rioted rather than go to serve in the civil war. But hey settled nicely. Now they're everywhere. The Italians were great, they were quick to accept Americas culture. The germans, the hungarians, need I say more? They were Americans before they had arrived. I just don't like people comming in and trying t change my country to fir their needs. Some places can't put an American flag in a public classroom cause ot may offend someone. This is offensive to me!!! A classroom which is paid for by tax dollars. We've become a socially sick nation. A socially ignorant natin. We now hace to bow to their needs and desires. Thius is just wrong. This country was founded on a bunch of guys with big ideas. not a bunch of foreigners who just want what they can get from everyone else.

That's what I love about this counrty, there's so much going on and that has gone on, you could spend a lifetime learning it all. It;'s great.

Although, if Sleepy wanted to run off and live like primatives in the South American heat, I'd have no complaints about leaning. We can spend the next 50 years grooving in the tropical heat, drinking margaritas, worring what we're missing on CNN.
(Tue Nov 20, 2001 - 3:37:21 am)

Heruka:
The drunker I get, the more I have to say. Coincidence?
(Tue Nov 20, 2001 - 3:43:37 am)

Heruka:
Warm sand, hot un, cold beer, and a large bosy of water to stare at. That's how I should live. Nothing wrong with that.
