this is quite a lovely pc, decoy. yes, it is your civic duty to buy a handsome pc such as this.

Queenie:
When are they going to start making PC's as easy to open and swap out parts as a Mac? I mean, Mac's are put together really intelligently. And they have convenient handles and everything.

Queenie:
Was my statement about Macs ignorant? I don't know if you've ever popped one open but compared to PCs it's genius design. You just pull the side open and it hinges at the bottom -- no screws, no nothing. PC cases should be so efficiently made.

Mrs Dr GB:
We were going to sign up for a mime class. They have certificates, and mask weekends. Here is a picture of the present bunch of mimers at the school:

Heruka:
Wha'? Maybe, just maybe, sticking with cd's is esier on the consumer. Ya think? Perhaps? It ain't my fault through bad management and shitty attempts at controlling the music industry those fucks in higher office are watching cd sales go down like $3 hooker during a bad economy. I'm done. Cd's are it for me babies. I will never buy a musc collection in another format. Instead of throwing the new thing out there so all the little geeks will run out and buy it, perhaps it's time to focus on music, quality music. Mass maketable quality music.

If you really wnat people to hate you, I'm sure you don't have to go to school for it.

I read somewhere that Microsquash sank huge amounts of money into Mac, keeping it afloat. Is this true?
(Thu Nov 1, 2001 - 4:40:36 am)

Sleepy:
I'm sticking with CD's too. And video and square televisions. Bah. All the films I like are barely wider than square anyhow, so widescreen tv is of no use to me. However, what the hell am I supposed to do with my Gotta Let This Hen Out! DVD? Admire the box and play the video instead! Ha ha. Ha ha . Ha. Enough. You should have seen my fight for vinyl back in the early 1990's - it was pitiful.

I'm going to start the Academy Ratio fan club. We can all wear chic black t-shirts with 1.33:1 printed neatly on the sleeve.

We will wear berets and look concerned quite often.

From the Miami Herald:

So, who really won Florida's electoral votes last Nov. 7? That question gave birth to this newspaper's unprecedented review of all the disputed ballots cast in Florida's 67 counties. As reported on Friday when the final piece of that investigation was published, the question of who ``won'' -- George W. Bush or Al Gore -- turns entirely on what ballot-counting standards are used.
That finding is important for two reasons:

It demonstrates the importance of the task assigned under Florida's newly enacted election-reform law to Secretary of State Katherine Harris to set a single, statewide standard for hand counting disputed ballots.
It validates the U.S. Supreme Court's controversial decision to step in and stop what was sure to be a chaotic recount because Florida didn't have a uniform standard in place.
For the most part, the complex statewide ballot review by The Herald, its parent company, Knight Ridder, USA Today and several other newspapers affirms Mr. Bush's win. As the final part of The Herald's series showed, former Vice President Al Gore could have been president only if all undervotes with clearly discernible dimples and hanging chads had been counted as valid, and if recoverable ``overvotes'' (those in which the voter's intent was clear) had been examined and counted. None of the latter were.
It is no small irony that just such a recount would have been required under the new law. Yet Mr. Gore failed to seek such a recount last fall, a decision that history may see as a major blunder. Under the rules in place then, and using a standard that even the Gore campaign accepted, Mr. Bush's victory is clear.
This much we can say for certain: Florida is well to be rid of butterfly ballots and punch-cards with dangling chads, dimples and confusing instructions. For that the Legislature, Gov. Jeb Bush and many others are to be commended. Commendably, too, the new law requires an automatic ballot review and recount in any election where the margin is less than a quarter of 1 percent of the total ballots cast. The margin that separated the candidates in the 2000 election was much slimmer -- 0.006 percent.
Yet it would be too smug to believe that merely by moving to newer voting technology Florida will have solved all its elections' problem. The newspaper's review found ample evidence not just of voters' confusion, but also of precinct workers'. Training poll workers and teaching voters how to cast ballots are more important than anyone believed seven months ago and must be assigned higher priorities.
The reforms triggered by Florida's Nov. 7 embarrassment are real and significant. Other states, which had problems but drew less attention, would do well to emulate them. Only Congress has the authority and power to prod those states. To ensure the integrity of national elections, Congress, too, must act now.

Decoy:
Good morning. I still have lots of LPs, but my turntable broke in 1995. Its very sad. I hate mimes even more than I hate clowns, and if you mime near me, I will scream at you and be generally threatening. I am beginning to suspect that the kitten may have a subliminal effect on your brain, use it sparingly.

And there are lots of case designs out there, Mac is one of them, and is by no means the best.
