Hey alt. Damned good to see you bud. How's it going?

Myk Murphy:
hello folks. sorry i've tuned out for a bit. things have been nonstop for a few days. work is a sinister thing, and then we had band practice over here tuesday night, followed by our (seemingly) annual live performance wednesday night. due to unfortunate monitoring in a noisy club, things didn't go so well. we pulled it together, however, and muddled through. an important axiom to live by: always do your own soundboard/mixer stuff.

So Sorry:

Bad Day To Be Buscemi:
Buscemi, Vaughn Attacked in Bar BrawlSteve Buscemi was stabbed Thursday morning after he and Vince Vaughn were involved in a Wilmington, North Carolina, bar brawl. Buscemi had joined Vaughn and screenwriter Scott Rosenberg at the Firebelly Lounge in downtown Wilmington, where they were on location shooting John Travolta's new film, Domestic Disturbance. Both Vaughn and Rosenberg were arrested during the melee. Travolta was reportedly not there when the fight broke out. Wilmington resident Timothy Fogerty, 21, was arrested and charged Thursday with assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly stabbed Buscemi several times in the head, throat and arm. According to North Carolina's WECT-TV, the actor (whose film credits include Fargo and Reservoir Dogs) was taken to New Hanover Regional Hospital in critical condition. He was reportedly discharged Thursday afternoon and flew back to New York. Sources on the set of Domestic Disturbance tell E! News Daily that Buscemi's injuries were minor and he's expected back on the set Monday. The brawl reportedly has not affected the shooting schedule, but there's no official word yet from Paramount Pictures regarding the incident. Wilmington police say the fight broke out around 2:30 a.m., after witnesses reported that Fogerty was making comments about wanting to slice someone. "From what witnesses say, he provoked [the fight] at the club," says Officer Crystal Williamson. "And as they left, he provoked it again." Williamson says that when Buscemi, Vaughn and Rosenberg were leaving, the fight broke out. Vaughn, the 31-year-old star of Swingers and The Cell, and Rosenberg (whose credits include Gone in 60 Seconds, Con-Air and the new Spider-Man film) were arrested and held on $600 bail. Another local man, 20-year-old Kenneth Purgason, also was arrested in the brawl. Purgason, Vaughn and Rosenberg are due in court June 4. Production on Domestic Disturbance began in Wilmington in January. The Paramount film, due out sometime this fall, stars Travolta as a divorced man who believes his 11-year-old child's new stepfather (played by Vaughn) has sinister intentions.

Myk Murphy:
yeah, i like ol' steve. wilmington NC has become the hollywood of the east. home prices have skyrocketed since hollywood came to town, and i think this attack is probably indicative of the local collective resentment. locals over in the raleigh-durham area also resent the nouveau riche IT types at Research Triangle Park, so there's plenty of grudge to go around. with the filming and the stabbing and the Helms Helms Helms...

I don't want to alarm anyone, but there's a massive spider on my ceiling. Uh-oh, it's starting to move.

Sleepy:
The worst part is that it won't be in that position any more when I come back into the room. It'll probably be hiding behind the television planning when it's going to pounce on me. I know these spiders. I'm sure it's checking off something on a clipboard up there.

One time last summer, I got up in the morning and picked up my pants off the floor. Before I could stick the first leg in, a spider fell out of the bottom of the leg and attempted to flee. After I crushed it, I discovered it was a Black Widow. I couldn't sleep for three days.

good god, rob. i bet it carried a massive clipboard. hello, arachnophobes. i hope your weather is nice, cuz it's wonderful here. for once, the bad weather is limited to the workdays. hooray!

I think the spider has fallen asleep. It moved very briefly when I was playing the Young Fresh Fellows. It may have been dancing. Slowly.

Intel:
Extreme Ultraviolet lithography is considered a technology breakthrough. The 13.4 nm wavelength of this light is more than 10 times shorter than optical alternatives and will allow the patterning of lines below 50 nm dimensions. Light at this wavelength does not travel through the atmosphere and is absorbed by glass. Therefore, much of Intel's research on EUV is directed toward producing efficient light sources, all-reflective optics, and novel reflective masks to support this technology. Intel is leading a consortium of five companies, called the EUV LLC (Limited Liability Corp.), to develop the technology. It is due for production in 2005.
