I've been to Georgetown! I do remember there were some bridges involved. Walking around it made me feel like I was in St Elmo's Fire.

Indeed, a stroll there gives one an honorary membership to the brat pack. And it's funny how that place was the center of the DC partying scene in the 80s. Other spots emerged to challenge in the 90s like Adams Morgan and parts of Arlington. Old Town Alexandria kept a hopping bar district, too.
