And then there was "Le Shitshow" as we tried to leave. Drove from Reims to cdg. Our incoming plane we planned on boarding to leave Paris? It landed rough and taxied in with a fire brigade escort (you can see it at terminal 3... pretty sure it's still there). Dumpy airline refused to cancel flight for six hours so our checked bag was hostage until then. We booked another airline for an evening departure to JFK. Spent the wee hours this morning at nyc penn station, Amtrak to DC to see the hometown morning rush, metrorail home. Just got in 45 minutes ago. I've had no sleep. Feeling clearheaded although I know I'll crash soon. Still, the trip was great. The french were a pleasure, except perhaps the occasional employee in an airport, but if I had to work in those conditions, I would despise all human life, too.
