The big winner was social media. The average trump voter doesn't get much mainstream news. They get news alerts sent to their fb/ig/x feed from their uncle Frank, delivered as snarky memes without any of those pesky facts or editorial review to ruin the fun. These voters couldn't tell you the name of most of their elected representatives. News outlets will need to aggressively slide into these voters' feeds or wave the white flag.
